Hail to you fellow priests-wannabes!
I've been waiting a lot to build my new Cleric, and now that the rework is done, I'm still unsure as to which path to follow or which powers to give. I would like to discuss with you every detail of the new Cleric, including: race, ability scores, paragon paths, and so on..
I'm planning to go either half elf or maybe human... still unsure.
The new paragon paths seem to boost the "cure" aspect of the Cleric, while only the Righteous path seems viable to a war-cleric.
Care to help me build this new Cleric, keeping in mind that I will almost always play solo?
Let's hear from you! Thanks in advance!

Middle path-burst PvP healer.
Bottom path-PvP/PvE DPS debuffer that pucks a punch himself.
All 3 solo well, Righteous obviously does that best.
Simply decide what you like to do, race pick is crucial only if you are min-maxer, but I would advise high crit rolls. I'm a crit addict and DC benefits too much from crits to not max it imo, but there are pure healing builds that ignore crit for the sake of power.
Long story short: Healing is group utility-no reason to spec for group utility if you go solo all the time.
Sorry, forgive my ignorance.. what does HoT stand for?
I too, thought that critical should be maxed, but that is true also for most chars...hehe
What ability scores would you recommend?
Pretty much like DoT is Damage over Time.
Don't ask me for the ability scores, just pick whatever the gets you most crit and power bonus(thats what I would do), no need to focus too much on defense if you're running solo. Eventually somewhat high constitution will be handy as well, but don't stress it.
I'm also not a min maxer when it comes to race, so I advise you to pick whatever you like most.
So I guess.. this path would do if playing in group... but the last one would be better soloing...
mmm... I'm not a min-maxer honestly... so I'll probably play a cobold. hahah!
I see your point.
So basically you're telling me that cleric has become a DPS powerhouse??
Definitely.
We don't only DPS the mobs, but also make them become squishy as hell with our debuffs. I'm currently with High Prophet and P. Terror, which means -50% DR. The debuffs from the Righteous path also gets -25% DR, so yea, we'll be very requested for parties as soon as people notice how incredible we are.
I've been out-DPSing some people with my Righteous DC and sometimes I even get Great Successes in the dragon zerg at WoD. The only ones I couldn't out-DPS were BiS CWs and SWs. In PvP your life will be very similar to the SW's: you die easily.
I underrated Faithful on Preview because there were some wonky things, but it's just amazing for PvP, you literally cannot die if the enemy team doesn't know how to use its bursts properly.
I didn't test Virtuous that much but on Preview it looked nice for PvP as well, but spiky damage may be a problem.
Since you're looking for a solo build, I pretty much recommend Righteous for you. The damage is quite solid and you can keep yourself alive.
Put all your points into righteous tree, you'll love it. I am not sure what is better, DO or AC - looks like more people choose DO now (you have at-will DoT there which goes nicely with Bear Your Sins feat), personally I prefer AC, but that's just me, I always prefered less popular builds.
Also remember some of our popular spells are different now and you need to read tooltips carefully before slotting anything - so if we meet by chance somewhere in the wilds, let's say, by HE, and you throw MY mobs around with Sunburst, I'll knit myself a sweater out of your.... ekhm...nevermind.
Race - hard to say, all post mod3 faces are ugly as hell. But since you'll be looking mostly at your char's backside, I suggest tieflings.
I'm serious here, from technical point of few the differences between races are hardly noticeable, so just go for what you think looks better.
Mean seriously, a SW/GWF/HR couldn't compete with it? What madness is going on. They're the strikers.
With that said, for solo I highly recommend going Righteous. You will never need the 'hardcore' healing capabilities of either Virtuous or Faithful, and more DPS is always welcome. And that's not to say that Righteous can't heal, it has enough of both worlds (retaining both HoTs and burst healing) and can easily keep anyone alive as long as you use your brain. :P
Divine Oracle, solely for the Brand of the Sun at-will. It will make soloing a breeze.
Regarding Races, as others have said, "not min-max = don't worry". I fancy the Half Elf myself, but you can't really go wrong with races for DC.
Before it was a slow watch em bleed to death.
I'll give it a try, and see what comes out. Sadly, nwcalc hasn't been updated yet, but I know Kaelac, I've been using his build some time ago, it was great.
As it should be!
Because the state of DC before rework was simply sad, and we don't wont the class to an object of pity again
Think of DC's healing as, it's always good, but Virtuous/Faithful build upon it making it better while Righteous builds upon DPS instead. Your healing isn't ever 'bad' or 'weak'.
Not at all.
DPS specced DC heals better then healing specced DC before mod5, so you won't have slightest problems healing any content except high end pvp as a DPS DC.
Divine glow, bastion of health and healing word with healing lore passive and you're set for PvE healing.
I am doing really well with just divine glow and astral seal as my healing tool alone as Righteous AC DC all while packing considerable punch.
Divine Glow is the new must have Encounter Power for most content.
I also leveled up a new Cleric and have been able to pretty much do all content without buying potions etc.
All in all, I would say that the new Cleric is working out well for me and does very well in groups as it has before. You just have to get used to smacking the keyboard more.
Of course, I expect nerfs to the Cleric because, I mean, that's what they did to us since day one.
Just a Heads-Up FYI.
@Slack83er: ZOMFG it's is absofekkinglutely a seriously refreshing change.
My very first character out of the gate on OB Launch was my DC (it's still my main) - and I remember the shrill cries of NERF THEM ALL! DC have the 'honor' as being the very first class to be called OP and the first to get debilitating nerf and all those nerf remained for almost two full years.
My main has been relegated to invoking/professions farmer and nothing else for 18 months.
I have leveled to 60 a GWF, GF, TR, TWO CWs and TWO HRs and a SW.... even another DC - which I eventually dismissed in disgrace (deleted) because I needed the slot. Every. Other. Class. was more fun to play than my DC after all the nerfing.
But now. HOLY SHIZZLESNITZ. About. Fekking. Time.
I am absolutely LOVING all the PvP calls of "OP DC!!!!!!" "NERF DC" "DC TOO POWERFUL!!!" "DC NEVER DIES!!!!". Moar pleez!
Seriously - I am now actively playing on my two-year-old Main and even leveling a shiny new one simultaneously (One on DO-Righteous and the other will be AC-Faithful) - I am Loving. This.
Just saying: if you enjoyed DC 'back in the day" - you'll love it again.
GIVE A MEDAL TO THAT MAN! HAHA!
Thank you! You got me lol and pushed me forward to my new DC!
I use 3 x Divine Glow (Divine Mode) + Dauntling Light (Empowered), which works pretty good for me.
3 divine searing light and an empowered astral shield along with fire of gods and endless consumption. Now that's OP. Agro the entire universe, they will never break through the mitigation and LS.
Witch path is it then?
Wich stats should i max out?
I am pretty unsure where to spend points in ...
But, from what I've been seeing while playing, this new cleric is really strong on Health, AC, CC and mob slaughter. This will suffice for me.
Waiting to turn it to a Dragonborn. hehe..
