There are a lot ideas on how to balance PVP, and this is not one of them.
As everyone knows, current PVP system will often allow a powerful team to play against a group of low geared newbies. The result is that there is a one minute killing spree at the begining, and then several minutes of waiting until the match ends with score like 1000-34. This is boring both for the winning and losing team.
The fix I have in mind is fairly simple. The idea is to change the winning conditions. Currently it's that whoever gets 1000 points firs winst. What about adding the following - if at any given time during the match one team gets 500 points more than the other team, they win.

Unrelated: my suggestion is to make campfires safe places. Once in your campfire you are safe but you can still (if you're ranged) hit the red people outside and they cannot hit you.
