New Profession: Slave and Serf Management

edited October 2014 in General Discussion (PC)
Since managing all our different indentured servants and professions takes up our heroes valuable time and effort that could be better spent saving the realm, I propose a new profession:

Slave and Serf Management

Craftsmen
  • Rank 1: Slave Driver
  • Rank 2: Supervisor
  • Rank 3 common: Project Supervisor
  • Rank 3 uncommon: Manager
  • Rank 3 rare: Director
  • Rank 3 epic: Pharaoh

Tools (Common; Uncommon; Rare; Epic)
  • Whip (Worn Whip; Leather Whip; Cat-o-nine-tails; Lightning Whip)

Experience
1. Hire first Slave Driver
2. Hire additional Slave Drivers
3. *Manage Idle Profession Rank 1 serfs
4.
5. *Manage idle Profession Rank 2 serfs
6. Hire Supervisors
7. Upgrade Leather Whip to Cat-o-nine-tails
8.
9.
10. *Manage Idle Profession Rank 3 serfs
11.
12.
13. Promote 4 Supervisors to Project Supervisor
14. Turn 4 rank 2 commons into 1 rank 3 common
15. Promote 4 Manager to Director
16. *Manage Idle Profession Rank 4 serfs
17. Upgrade Cat-o-nine-tails to Lightning Whip
18. Promote 4 Director to Pharaoh
19.
20.

*Manage Idle Profession:
This allows you to set a specific available Profession Task from a known Profession and assign that Professions Craftsmen. That task will be started whenever that profession is idle and a task slot is either available or collectable. Management craftsmen can only assign profession craftsmen of their level or lower. Rank 3 rare Director and Rank 3 epic Pharaoh can substitute rare tasks and can be given a maximum task-time for selecting rare tasks.

Agreed. Not to mention "promotion of slavery" is hardly a felony. Actual slavery is, but "promoting it" is a moot issue. LOL

@OP I always thought of them as hired hands.

Totally offtopic and whatever but it is actually against the ToS to do anything ingame or on the forum that is illegal in the real world , no idea how they square away killing things with explosive spells and huge swords though xD

    Um, let's see now...
"Craftsmen" -- bought and sold at auction house or forced into unpaid servitude?
Have you ever paid any of your "craftsmen?"
...and, that's also one of the points of this -- to call it out for what it is.

I'm definitely not "promoting" -- I actually despise this bogus "crafting" mechanism, in part due to it's ridiculous micro-management and overall worthlessness.

Well, Neverwinters Crafting-System couldve been made into something great if they had combined it with "housing". Like you have to buy and upgrade your Workshop and employ craftsmen that you can actually watch at work.
Instead they went for a browser game.

It would be nice to give all the slaves I rescue a new job.Just turning them loose on the world is irresponsible.

What do you mean the workers don't get paid? Ever tried to speed up a project? That sudden empty feeling coming from your currency bag, well, that's called over time wages. You don't dare crack the whip on them, it will make you broke.

As it is, I feel more like a charity. I gota supply all the tools, all the raw materials, I gota hire them, and train them. And the best I can get out of them is a project competed at their own pace. You just know they are milking it, because as soon as you pony up the cash they can get it done in no time at all.

The worst part is, they know they got me over a barrel. I can't even get them to show me how to do some of the easy stuff myself. I simply have to give into their demands, I wouldn't want the union after me. If union rules say a project needs two workers, there is just no way around it. If union rules state that a given worker can't do a difficult project without extra training, well, I have no choice but to agree with it. And if I don't give them the quality tools they demand, they will sabotage the project by producing stuff I didn't even want or in less quantity then I asked for or expected. Its a racket, I tell ya.

Say what you want, but it is slavery in the worst form. How about sunite acolytes? Pretty young girls you've got in the summer and all what they do all day long is caprese? Riiight..... This is simply wrong (there should be male acolytes, preferably drow)!

Upgrading whips to beat your slaves harder?
This thread is pretty frikking stupid....
I could see the headlines a week later "Online MMO Lets you beat slaves, upgrade whips."

    Stupid,stupid,stupid.
I know there may not be a lot of black people that play , or jewish people for that matter.
But having a slave master in game as an occupation is just asking for little racist smart *** trolls in PE.

What does racism have to do with that?

Bah those divas got it made. They got the best union of them all. You can only get them to work during the season and then they take the rest of the year off. I got a mountain of tomatoes rotting away, but good luck getting them make anything out of it before next year. Heck, you can't even hire more then one of them or the first one storms off in a complete huff.

As an employer, I shouldn't have to deal with all of this.

If you don't see the correlation between slavery and racism then I'm surprised you can function a keyboard.
