Hey Everyone,

We will be performing our scheduled server maintenance tomorrow 10/09 at 7 AM PDT. Estimated downtime is 2 hours, but could be extended due to unforeseen circumstances.

No patch notes this week, just a server restart.

When is maintenance for you? (Click here to find out)

- Dwight

Update 1 (7:08 AM PDT) Maintenance has begun.
Update 2 (8:01 AM) Maintenance is progressing as planned. Estimated downtime remains the same.
Update 3 (9:01 AM PDT) Maintenance has completed. Welcome back to Neverwinter

    I am impressed!
Gateway message is "We will be performing shard maintenance on October 9 from 7-9 AM Pacific (1500-1700 UTC)"

Thank you for finally correcting your algorithm to calculate UTC.
I would not mind if you made the down times really from 0200-0400 UTC as propsed in recent messages. But that is only my European view.

Umm, nothing has to be fixed? You must be kidding me .... SOT and LOL arcane and mystic chests bugs, for one, and also how about trying to fix this bug where the CW damage increasing feats are not working on most spells?

Except that it's wrong. It should be 1400-1600 UTC. It's 1500-1700 in the UK and 1600-1800 in Europe.

There are no fixes this week because we should be getting the first module five build/DC/TR skill changes on preview either this week or next week so they are probably busy preparing that.

Not necessarily, it could just as well be "any fixes we have aren't ready for patching this week".

Two hours to reboot servers? Wow... if I tried to pull that at work, I'd be out of a job.

It's not as easy as flipping a switch off and on. Once those servers (plural, a shard consists of multiple servers) are up they have to check the integrity of the drives, databases, etc. Also, it's an estimate.

I do recall reading a particular post here recently about how a poster at their job was doing a "routine restart" that wound up turning into a multi-day disaster because on reboot the drives failed. So yeah, it's not a simple process. Nothing is ever truly "routine" where technology is involved.

    So many quotes.
    That was sarcasm O.o

In my honest opinion, we would be so happy if instead of next module, bugs of present content should be fixed. But I'm just a player. so...

I just want to know if long time bugs such as the faction party bug are even being considered for fixes. Would be nice if they had a real list of known issues with status and eta (that they shared with the community). It's frustrating seeing bugs go on endlessly like that silly chat window bug, which is about the most annoying thing I can think of yet no attempts have been made to fix it. Folks want to know that you have a fix on the horizon for stuff like spammers messaging ppl with their level zero accounts. A bit of transparency goes miles in letting players know stuff has been acknowledged and fixing being worked on.

As an Enterprise Sr System Administrator in my day job, I agree with this. You always estimate 2 hours, minimum. You don't think it'll take that long, and nobody ever complains if you give the server back early, but if you estimate what you think it'll take, and something goes wrong, and now you have to give it back late, people complain loudly and you have huge meetings where you have to explain why you promised 15 minutes and took 2.5 hours. It's never a good idea to not leave yourself some "troubleshooting room".

they forgot about Foundry. Foundry is full with bugs, some of them are critical or major such as:
-switching from normal game to foundry , game always crashes at the first attempt.
    - terrain in 3d editor and many details are dissapearing visually/flickering after some progress or encounter positioning..
-teleporters = the working FX sometimes is a bit far from its 3d box even if the parent portal has been modified to relative to Zero altitude in outdoor maps.
-detailing more than 1500 details may cause instability leading to bugged drop down windows/lists in foundry mode ("appear when", "disappear when"..becomes locked ,only the keybord arrows allows to navigate) or general bad overlapping of the windows.
    - etc, etc..

But as long as foundry is not a major source of $$$ incoming ,nobody will take care of. :(

*(oh and how about to add some easy bosses in the foundry (example : Razvan from idris,Jawbone from Death Forge, campaign easy bosses, etc) for the dungeon-ish style foundries, not the elites or solo things, many authors wants them..)
*(the sound or earthquake effect is not always needed with an FX, so we should be able to add/select them separately . (example: magic portals-teleporters, dust effect))

There's always something to fix in a game.

Yes, but not everything to fix is ready for patching within a week.

I agree as I am also a Sr. Systems Engineer/DBA (love multitasking). I like Scotty's outlook on maintenance downtime (Star Trek III) - multiply it by a factor of 4. If you're done sooner, they think "Great job". If not, they are prepared. They may not like it but they'll be prepared.
    I aim to misbehave

Yes, because last patch fixed all the bugs and remaining bugs are only a week old.
