How the heck are you supposed to even get a chance at defender pack?

I"ve been on 3 days now, over 150 heroic encounters and not one single supply has dropped. not one. I've tried making them but between the incredible delay and work and real life getting in the way, I've got 3. need 12 to get ONE medal and you need 7 medals to get a pack. If the siege were to last to Christmas I might get ONE CHANCE to get something. Not Get It Just A Chance To Get It. this is ridiculous! What is the drop rate for these things? .00001%? How about making it a bit easier for those of us that can't live on the game and grind this out in 7 total days?

    Defense supply is nothing special anyway. Don't give yourself a heart attack.

    You need 6 for 1 medal. The 12-pack one gives you 2 medals. You can buy them off the AH or with Zen. You can also buy the smallest med kits with gold and convert 10 of those into 1 supply kit. Those tasks do take several hours, but you can basically "set it and forget it" until you get home...

    Same as the Gond event, only more merciful, but still RNG.

    The medic is an epic companion, it was never going to be easy to get. If I can afford it I'll probably just buy one off the AH.

    From crafting alone I should get two, perhaps three chances, that's with seven characters.

    Two defenders packs so far and both times I got the companion fortification kit sadly -- was a lot of effort and I don't think I will go for a third with any deliberate intent.

    You can create the Supply Cache packs using Professions.

    It takes 5 seconds to hire the Siege Engineer (or whatever he's called) and you get a green Cart with him for a 16% Quality Bonus.

    You can only hire one Professional craftsman and you can only perform 1 of the Siege Profession tasks at a time and they take about 5 or 6 hours.

    So, if you have 10, 12, 15 characters or more, get them all to do the Siege Professions in one of your Professions slots.

    The Supply packs are not BoP, so you can mail them all to a single character (or via your shared Bank Slots) to redeem them 12 at a time.

    You can get a Blue Cart for 24% Quality Bonus from the Event Vendor. There are also Epic Purple Carts on the AH, but I have no idea where they come from - probably Locked boxes?

    But be careful with the tasks - the cheapest give a single supply pack. The more expensive tasks eat up your resources and have only a 16% chance of getting 2 or 3 Supply packs, 24% with a blue Cart, 40% with a purple Cart. So I'd go for the cheap ones that use 10 altars, 10 Minor injury Kits etc.

    It gets rid of all those Bound items you may have from leveling up, but obviously it is cheaper to buy rank 1 Injury Kits to use, rather than using 50 Major Injury kits. I just put 800 gold in my Bank Vault so my latest character can buy a ton of them at level 5.

    The Rewards you get from the Supply cache guy in Protector's Enclave are:

    01 = 06 Dragon Cult Insignia
    06 = 20 Dragon Cult Insignia + 1 Medal
    12 = 50 Dragon Cult Insignia + 2 Medals

    So, obviously, turn in 12 at a time.

    With 13 characters doing that Profession every 6 hours or so I could, in theory, get 200 Dragon Cult Insignia + 8 Medals every 24 hours for a week, which is 1400 Dragon Cult Insignia + 56 Medals.

    If you have only two characters, well, I'm afraid that is what happens in a game that is completely free to play when you do not spend any Zen on New Character slots. You have to spend more time and you get less out of it.

    This was announced as an "introduction" to the event, and I'm betting that means that it's a lot shorter than it would normally be, and that a lot of the things that will eventually be in it aren't implemented yet.
