Race Change Tokens

Do the race change tokens allow you to actually re-roll your original stats, or just re-assign points?

Do they allow you to change class?

Another question - can you Race Change to the same race and get a different intiial roll on your attribute scores?

Like, if I wish I'd selected a different roll for STR, CON, DEX etc but want to use the same race, can I do that?

It gives you the option to change your race, appearance, initial stat roll, and name.

It does not allow you to change your class, deity, or background.

You can't also reassign any powers/feats, which is a problem if you were a human because three heroic feat points will be randomly (or using any algorithm) removed from you and it is almost certain they won't the ones you'd wanted to remove.

    Crumbs.

So you still need a separate Retraining Token to change powers and feats?

So only use them on demi-humans?

I have a free one from the Dragonborn Pack. I was thinking of using it on a level 60 Halfling, as I screwed up the initial roll selection. But I really do not want to change her Appearance and apparently the old meshes are gone.

But at least not having to re-do all her powers and feats will be a little less inconvenient as I re-specced her a few days ago with a token she'd had for months.

    Cheers!

I'd be careful using the race change token. I bought the dragonborn pack today, and used the race change. I changed my Half-Orc CW (don't ask) to a Dragonborn. Afterwards I looked at the level up stats. I was hoping we could change them (we can't). Was going to move some points from CHA to INT. But when I looked at the stat screen the points I had placed when my character was a Half-Orc had shifted. My CW now has points in DEX. Blah.

That does not sound good. How could the points shift to a different stat? Are you sure you selected the right ones to put the initial bonus in? I'd put in a ticket.

What I did in the end was use it on a different Halfling and made her a Dragonborn. I put the race bonus in CON and INT for hp and recharge and rolled until I got the one with CON and INT 12 (+2), STR 14, CHA 13 and DEX 15.

Like you, I was disappointed that I could not also choose where to put the level up bonuses.

For a Dragonborn, I'd have put them in DEX and STR*, but they are all in DEX and CHA*, like they were for the Halfling.

I will not ever buy one of these tokens for 1500 Zen. They really need to make one that lets you just re-do the initial rolls AND re-assign level-up bonuses and change absolutely nothing else.

Yeah, I double checked everything I could. Its the level up stat points that changed.

This character had been 60 for a while, and its been a forever since I looked at the level up stats screen on it. So I am not 100% sure the race change caused it instead of something else. But I would never put points into DEX on a CW. Wondering if its a race/class-specific issue. I doubt there were very many Half-Orc CWs to begin with, lol. I did put in a ticket. I'll see where that goes. I'm sure they'll sort it out. I have a Zen offer on the exchange. If its not fixed before I get that, I'll just use a power respec. Honestly, if they didn't include the level up stats I was going to use one anyway. But its more than a little weird to see all those +1s to DEX.

As for changing the level up stats. Would have been nice, but I didn't really expect it. Racial traits can certainly affect where you want your points. But its not as major as some things. So like I said: I wanted it, but I didn't expect them to include it.

A half-Orc CW would be... an unusual character and probably fun to play. ;)

If it were me, I'd have probably put the initial race bonuses into DEX and CON, rather than DEX and STR, but then I'd have pumped up INT and CHA for the Recharge, Damage bonus and Crit bonus. With the half-Orc's +5% Damage per Critical Hit, that might work nicely.

What was the other stat you pumped up? The only reason to pump up DEX would be for AoE Resist and Deflect, but there are other things more useful to a CW. WIS, for example.

Yeah, a half-orc was pretty fun. It was different. Every now and then I'd certainly get an odd comment about him. :)

I had pumped CHA (cw-crit) and then a split of WIS (cw-recharge) and INT (cw-damage). The idea was originally to focus on a heavy crit build that didn't need EotS, taking advantage of half-orc crit severity. At first he was crit/int, but I decided I needed more recharge for faster powers. I eventually dumped the whole idea for a more traditional CW. Besides since I made this guy the improved pet stuff has been added. You can get 15% crit severity from pet active bonuses now.

DEX is pretty useless on a CW. I am like 99% sure I never touched the stat. Again, I think the points shifted somehow when I changed. I tried to check him out from the last time I copied him to the preview server (just to be sure), but all his stuff there had been reset from my last log in. I have probably a dozen CWs and never touched DEX on any of them. Not even by accident. (I had them for my leadership alts and have several I would to run Sharandar weekly for lesser fey blessings.) Normally I would make completely sure about something like this before commenting/ticketing. Sadly this isn't something I can just test though. I can't afford to throw away race changes to see for sure.

*The ticket was a bust. I had no proof the race change caused it, so I didn't expect help. But they basically told me not to even ask for assistance. I had originally planned to change the stats anyway, and its only 300 Zen to fix it. So whatever.*

Correct, you can change the initial roll, but not the assigned points so most likely you will need to buy a respec token.

all that has been said about retain token is 100% correct. U will need one, so count Race change + token to make full respec price. Did that a couple weeks ago.

First off bought Race change...thought it will allow to respec ability from lvl ups, it doesnt.

    As for what u get:
    - Race change
    - Gender change
    - Visuals (face, body, etc)
    - Name change
    - Initial ability ReRoll

and then...entering the game with perfectly ReRolled ability score, it will add ur previous ability pts from lvl ups. So if u were lets say heavy str char and now went heavy int, cha, or smthing else....then sorry, u need to respec too.

It would be better if they would offer full respec package, not partial race change etc. Because u will need to use another token anyways, cos each race has its ups and downs.
