OK, I've seen all the ways to legitimately get AD, I know not to try to purchase them outside the game. I'm playing five characters, two of them at 60th level, so I'm not just mono playing one all the time. I cannot play mega hours every day, real life and all that. So how in the heck do you accumulate hundreds of thousands of AD to purchase the really cool and powerful items you need to survive and prosper?

A good way is to level leadership on every character you ever make. If you have free character slots, leadership alts are good, too. Between invoking and leadership, you can get near or at the refinement cap daily (depending on assets used, and how often you can be bothered to restart). That's 24k per character. Over five characters, there's your 100k+ per day right there :)

For a more casual player, a lvl 20 leadership alt will produce around 12-15K a day (not all spots opened, restarts and choices of tasks not optimized).
With 5 characters, it's still more than 60K a day, more than 400K a week. Plus all you can do with dailies and AH.

Also selling every spare piece of lint you find as you level to people on the AH can earn you quite a bit.
though with all the BOP and making holiday grind fests all that will be on the AH is lint...

Some of the "lint" has actually gone up quite nicely in price. Blue lvl 60 belts have quadrupled in price recently, for example.

The guide listed above is superb and if you are interested in making money then is the perfect place to start.

    Some caveats though:

Be warned that the AH is highly cut-throat and it is much, MUCH harder to make money off it nowadays.

Always start small, and never try to make or flip items in quantities that you wouldn't want to use yourself until you really know what you are doing.

Be aware that some of Cryptic's changes can totally destroy the value of your investments so don't keep too much invested in any one type of items.

I wouldn't expect much. The game is pretty new player unfriendly atm if you want high end gear. Older players were able to make a decent amount, amounts that newer players just can't get. Maybe if you can play the AH well, but in general don't have too high expectations.

The one thing I haven't noticed being mentioned up to now in this thread: Skirmish Events.

At least Three (and sometimes four) times a day there is the one-hour Skirmish event that rewards 1,000 AD per run. I am not a hours-upon-hours player, either.

My method for generating AD of about 1 Million (or more) a week relies on Professions: get Leadership to level 20 as fast as possible by only doing the YELLOW XP tasks, only hire new mercenaries at early levels, upgrade them as you are able up to Footman. By the time the "Patrol Mines" task is available I usually have at least 6 slots open, the first three are Patrol the Mines to get the Mining Deeds (or whatever they're officially called - stack those up because at level 13 a rare task nets 1,600 AD/12 Hours for one Mining Deed.

The remaining three slots are all 240 XP (Yellow - and 160 until the 240 is available) - once at level 20: go for the 1,600 AD "freebie" you get every day, perhaps buy 6 Heroes off the AH and you can do them three times a day if you have access to the web (Gateway).

Also, learn the schedule for Skirmish Events and grind them. I still have empty character slots so I roll new 'throw-away' characters to farm/grind Blacklake Skirmish whenever I can - you do the skirmish, collect your 1K AD, leave the party, re-queue, then just rinse and repeat for an hour. My best runs are 22 times an hour (=22k AD) and the worst are about 16 runs (16k AD) with an average of about 18 runs in an hour - this is when there are other farmers who are geared-up to make the entire skirmish last only about 3 to 5 minutes tops per run. On weekends I can usually make three Event-runs a day (my "weekends" are Friday through Monday, to be fair about my earning-potential description here.)

Just with these two efforts: Leadership Profession and Skirmish Grinding I average between 1 and 1.5 Million a week - and the best part: 100% Legitimate, so there's no risk of 'correctional probation' or banning by going awry against the Terms of Service. And it will stay legitimate until they (Cryptic) change the way it works. So even if it's not "blessed", it's at least "tolerated" activity.

My "ancillary" AD earning comes from the usual suspects: Invoking, transferring AD from all characters to my AD Mule, Auction House every once in a while and so on.

    Just my own too-sense. :)

The daily instances in dread ring and tower of celadaine can get you nice loots worthing from 7k to 15k ad in AH and a chance to get purple items for salvage and requires less than 10 minutes to finish if you have a gs around 11k/12k.

For leadership i dont think it is optimal for ad , since the tasks are long and the assests are pretty expensive, instead i'd suggest you to level up a crafting profession like leatherworking and invests in some blue assest to get things going faster , focus on tasks that rewards bulk ressources and each time you reach 200/300 unit put them in AH, later you can invest on tools and start crafting items.

That's good advice, but it can be improved further, by unlocking more leadership slots. The hardest slots to unlock are typically the "100% speed bonus" and the "Rank 3 result" ones. It can be expensive to unlock those, but what works for me is the following:

    1) Get two purple Heroes. They sell for 300.000 (or so) AD, but if you are in a good guild, or have friends who trust you, you can probably borrow them. Then do the "Feed the Needy" leadership task - takes a few minutes, will unlock the "100% speed bonus" slot and you can then mail the Heroes to your next toon to repeat the process.

    2) Get four purple alchemy tools, which sell for 150.000 AD each. The process is similar, but you just do one of the blue "batch of X" tasks (which start at level 3 with minor potions). You might have to repeat it a few times, but eventually you should get the rank 3 result.

If you have to buy the Heroes and the alchemy tools (instead of borrowing them), you should try to buy them during a drop in the market and sell them again - you might even make a small profit, but even if you only manage to sell them for what you bought them for in the first place, all you will lose is the 10% AH cut, and you will eventually recover that from the additional income from having the extra slots open.
    Hoping for improvements...

Leadership assets expensive? You make the footmen as a part of the process of leveling up Leadership in the first place, and the Worn Weapons/Armor only cost a bit of gold....and most people have way more gold than they need.

As far as the crafting professions are concerned, there are a few ways to make money from them - you can make shirts/pants - which can be really profitable - some of my low level alts made quite a bit of AD by making shirts and pants while everyone seemed to be leveling up their SWs (and thus in need of shirts and pants), but the top shirts/pants ("gemmed exquisite") require really expensive tools, and it is hard to make money there any more with the increase in dragon egg prices.

You can make a bit of money by doing the gathering tasks and selling the materials, but under normal circumstances the expected return seems to be lower than by doing leadership tasks - not worth doing unless you are always at the 24K RAD limit.

When it comes to Professions I always do Leadership LAST.
I've done side by side comparisons and it takes me less time to get to 60 Leadership if I first rank three other Professions to 20. Artificing (cheap assets and I already have a lot of them, plus the Mass Gathering missions all only take six hours), Alchemy (I have four Purple Tools, plenty of Assets, and you can rand this thing FAST if you have already built up a large stock of Mats. from old characters, plus you can open the Rnk 3 Result slot by Rank 3), and one other (I have a few options here, based on various Assets I have accumulated over time).
Granted, I rank up Leadership by doing Tasks that reward either AD or Mats that will be useful later. It sets a really good foundation for future higher level Tasks.
And by the time you have a couple of LvL 20 Leadership toons, you should never be MAKING Assets again. Buy Greens. It will get you Leveling faster and more productively.

The method I use is to unlock slots with alchemy tasks, since assets are (or at least, used to be before alchemy extravaganza) very cheap. After doing that (usually when I have alchemy lvl 3) I switch to leadership. At lvl 20 I do ca 14k ad daily per char, checking tasks twice a day. In theory, you could reach refinment limit with leadership only, but that would require investing in purple workers, and would take more time then you most likely are ready to spend on it.

Farming black lake skirmish is indeed profitable, but only avilable for low lvl chars, and we all know how fast they lvl up. If you have some lvl 60 already, I'd recommend dread legion one, it is a bit slower, but you get loot you can sell there.

Best ad/hour dailies? gg pve (you join 3 min before the phase ends and kill 1 duergar), and gg pvp (if you are luskan) - you queue 10 min before that phase ends. And if you win, it counts as "pvp victory" daily as well.
