Returning TR Player in search of advice

Hi!

I am returning to the game after a very long break (slightly more than a year). I have been doing some research, and I realize that overall TR has some issues that will be hopefully addressed in the next patch. That being said, I'd like to get a head start by doing the campaigns and getting some gear (gearscore is 10k with PvP set and Vorpal enchants) in preparation.

I have no idea where to start, all my powers and feats have been respected, and I am not sure what direction to take my character before Module 5. I am trying to figure out if I would be better going back to Master Infiltrator (all there was when I was playing) or the newer Whisperknife. Can anyone provide some some suggestions as to what Paragon spec to go, which Campaign bonuses I should choose (Haven't done any) along with any suggested specs? Also what gear should I be looking at getting. I have about 1.2 million AD saved up that I can spend if needed.

I PvP quite a bit, so a so build suggestions that perform well at both PvE and PvP would be great.

Thanks!

well u can forget the pve part except the boons no one wants tr in the party
get grim pvp gear scoundrell, get wates artifact from quest, upgrade waters artifacts, grind 2 pvp artifacts in pvp, skull and one with hp vanguard
spec in to snow build perma stealth its basicaly perma style of play with bait shadow strike and itc.
only damage coming from df -not for begginers so u migh even want to go wisperknife all ranged maybe bit easyer its very similar gear, feats as snow but still tr is the hardest class to play right now
anything but pure defencive builds are prety bad now
its nothing like tr from back totaly another class
    u need to stack con,int, recovery,regeneration
just look the leaderboard and find those trs on top 5 pages in looking for person page
and then inspec them coz u can inspec from anywere now so u will get the idea of what gear u want
    everyone is perma these days
there is one wisper tr @pandora1x inspec him and there u go

Make sure you work Sharandar and Dread Ring and do all dailies to get all boons. It takes a little longer in Shar due to the crazy grind to get to the third boon, but stick with it. Once you get some boons completed in either DR or Shar, get to IWD and start doing those dailies as well. Getting all the boons from those areas will both raise your GS and make you much more formidable in PvP and PvE.

You should also start going after the boons in Mod 4 with all the dragon/ghost related daily quests as well.

    Focus on those boons! :)

Sounds good. Can I do the campaigns at the same time, or must I complete one before moving to the next? Thx again!

You can do Shar, Dread, and the Dragons at the same time. You need at least 3 boons completed in EITHER Dread or Shar AND a GS of 10k (I think) to progress to IWD.

The 3 boons is Dread are faster to get than Shar, because that 3rd Shar boon takes quite a bit of grinding to get! :)

You are the only person whose posts always make my head hurt... complete sentences, punctuation, and capitalization 4tw.

@OP Be careful what you sink your effort into since we have no idea where the devs are going to take us in a few weeks for mod 5. You are pretty safe with the PvP armor sets & artifacts since they don't cost money... I expect a free respec when mod 5 hits, so I wouldn't worry too much about how to spec... just pick one of the guides here.

I am more just trying to get a baseline so I can work on the campaigns while I wait. I was extremely clueless when I first came back. Thanks again for all the guidance guys!

It is funny, but they darned well better do it! We TR loyalists will have suffered longer than any other class by the time Mod 5 finally hits!

Give us our free respect at Mod 5! :)

It will really depend on just how much they monkey around with our feats, if they only tweak some of the tool tips & bonuses, they won't, but if there is an overhaul (as I expect), they will...

Powers respec is another matter... That will only happen if some are removed and replaced with new power.

I really appreciate all the advice gentlemen. I leveled a rogue and a sw to 60, and have been spending more time on the lock. I'll do my daily quests on the TR, but thats about it for now.

All the advice was perfect though for either class. At this point, I'm at least all epics on my lock, which was pretty darn quick considering I was all blues 3 days ago. I just had to lie about my gear score to get into groups with my lock...then when they see my dps, no one cares.
