Opened 63 boxes and got 3 coalwards.

So who ever wanted to know the ratio of the drop rate.

The nasty part is that the drop rate used to be far more generous before the Ranger module. And I mean 4-5 times more generous.

This will mess with your math...

I opened 80 Tyrannical boxes. 0 Coal Wards
I opened 20 other random boxes (during resurgence). 0 Coal Wards

    This was done last Friday.

A statistically useful sample size for coal ward drops is around 1000.
I wasted five million AD promoting the Foundry.

I'm not sure any sample size will be statically meaningful when it comes to the NW random number generator. We know they are prone to bugs with regard to "randomness" i.e. dungeon chest bug, nightmare mount bug. So who knows if they are seeding properly or getting a proper distribution.

Personally, I have found it to be very streaky. I can fail 10 enchantment upgrades (with 90% success chance) in a row. Likewise I can pass 5 in a row that only had a 20% chance. While yes that is possible, statically the chance is very close to 0.

The bottom line is the drop rate is extremely low.

Even with the small sample sizes, you're still getting about 1 in 20 lockboxes, or around 5%, which is what people have been saying it is all along.

I never dropped any coal since the drop rate nerf (and with 4 characters everyday).

    Ye, i'm unlucky. Always been.

    I don't even bother.
I just get the Sharendar Chest for a guaranteed reward (a Feyblessing for every two).
For Cols. I just buy a few Keys and open Boxes until I get enough Bars to buy a Ward. Sell the HAMSTER I get on the AH to recupe some of the cost if I can't use it.

You were very lucky, other people who did the RNG tests calculated a 3-5% chance...
