Happened to me as well. I was watching for one of my quests to pop up the last few days because I wanted to see if anything was broken ... it looks like it was un-published because one of my dialogues said "to pass through." Had I not just seen this post I would have been scratching my head for quite awhile trying to figure out what it thought was profane. Thanks for that heads up! I changed it to "to slip through" and it worked fine. It's a pretty common phrase ... I wonder how many quests ended up offline because of it.

if you hover over the warning sign in the editor, it will tell you what the offending phrase is.

Yeah, had the same thing in two of my other foundries.

I would like to know who would find "to pass" offensive. Is it maybe something in another language or culture than american?

Don't think I can really share the amusement on this one. If people's quests are being taken down for a world as innocuous as "pass" then the censors are going way too far. Is this because of the last three letters, or is this because of something "bowel movement" related?

I strongly disagree with censorship. A list of prohibited words is already an infringement of free speech, but when it gets ridiculous to the point of banning totally innocent words that is not acceptable.

EDIT: Wow, I've been complaining a lot lately. I better be careful or I'll get myself banned for stirring up trouble...:p

Don't be ridiculous, it isn't a free speech issue, because Cryptic isn't a government. It's annoying, I agree, but over the top hyperbole doesn't help matters.

As to the words in question, I assumed it was objecting to top @ss given how it's 'to pass' that was the problem. It would be nice if they would issue a list of banned words to help us avoid this issue rather than have to play whack a mole with the word filter.

Might be just a bug. This happened like two content patches ago when they accidentally made words like "children" or "jungle" profane among many other completely innocent words lol

I hope this is the case and that it will be fixed soon.

If it is not, I disagree with geoff: the fact that Cryptic is not a government is beside the point. I am not trying to say that we are being oppressed. That WOULD be too harsh, and too dramatic. But it does still represent a lack of free expression to those of us who are Americans.

I always wondered what would happen if a bigger word had a smaller profane word inside.
That being said, the foundry profane word filter needs to go, that's why we have a chat filter, they should just change the words to #€$% or whatever but not to prevent publishing because of a word.
We're not kids, no one is going to die if a npc says the word "@ss" in a quest.

I got dinged in my current foundry when I had someone saying "To the Nine Hells with you!" ... The Nine Hells is a D&D creation! It's canon. There's official books about it. If the game can mention the evil gods(like Belial in the new warlock-only class quest line), we should be able to name where he lives.
I know the filter is filtering "hell/s", but sheesh!

Reiwulf, although true, noone is going to die if an NPC says @ss in a quest, but game is not 18+ only, it's not rated M. Kids are playing it. Cryptic has to have some measure of censorship, or option to censor for FAA requirements as an American company. In regards to Foundry, there's just no way to choose not to view profane words. If they put profane words into normal dialogue game content, there'd be no way to filter that either. But the filter can be ridiculous. I remember when "master" was blocked.
Now I need to go traverse that juncture.

Am not absolutelly against some filters but all the hypocrisy and the level of where it goes, nudity included is just preposterous. If anything, parental lock in the client instead of enforcing it overall is how it should be.

I could say its quite american or whatever yet, bohemian being a synonymum for...well being bohemian is probably quite an abyss between the culture as well. I like even "disgusting" words (and trust me that my native language is quite rich, colorful and creative) for they sometimes describe something way better, evoking related thoughts and feels.

And if a child is smart or sly enough to bypass a registry key with hashed password only administrator can change/delete, then it has all the rights to have access to all the information and behavior the society "contains".

ps: i always have to smile when i hear π being pronounced as pie instead of p in english XD

This is the best post ever. I made the mistake of trying to edit one of my quests last night and saw 4 flags for the word 'pass'.
Now they're stuck in the "Currently Publishing" bug. At least Gandalf cheered me up.
