Despite spending much of the weekend killing dragons in the new HEs, I have only a single item to show for it - and that as a dragon bone - not a belt or one of the Draconic armor pieces that drop from the HEs.
As you (probably) know, you only get "good" drops from two of the five dragon HEs - the ones in Rothé Valley and Whispering Caverns. The other three - (Graveyard, Ebon Downs and Icespire) are necessary to advance in the campaign, but they are not really worth farming.
What makes things bad is that as DCs, we are massively out-DPSed, and our best chance to get good drops is to outheal everyone, but that is hard for two reasons - first, with multiple DCs around, we are basically competing against each other, and the blue circles don't stack. Second, the DPS classes get so much healing from Life Steal that they may actually outheal the DCs.
In IWD we actually had a fair chance at getting the drops by doing something like Raid the Raiders, and focusing on the side tasks, but here there are no side tasks.
So, my question to my fellow DCs - how successful have you been at getting drops from the dragons, compared to, say, non-DCs in your guilds ?
Nothing on mine yet. Then again, I never got main/glove drops in IWD either. Not getting my hopes up for Mod 4 either.
Nothing on mine either, but only tried a couple.. too busy doing dailies on multiple toons to just sit and farm them.
I learned in IWD how to get great success almost every time.. be as selfish, non team player as you can possible be.. Never stand in another DCs Ashield, never buff players, never use HG, USE Miracle HEaler, slot healers lore, FF/sb and shield.
Take damage, better being a AC in that category, more the merrier, heal yourself.. if some jerk of a DC starts throwing HW on you.. give him some lip.
Is ANY of that good for the game? no not really, but apparently, that will get you great success, which nets you NOTHING as far as I can tell.. after doing 50 major hes and getting probably 40/50 great successes, never got the gloves to drop in IWD.

Yup... the utterly selfish approach worked for me in IWD - with one addition - I only did Raid the Raiders (which I mentioned above), and made sure to do all the secondary tasks as well....the result - in 5 tries I got 3 purple drops, including both gauntlets and main hand.
Hoping for improvements...

Its sad that as a support class one has to make sure that you offer as little support as possible to improve success rates, but I can also confirm that using a non support setup improves "Great Success" percentages. It would be nice if they could factor in the buff/debuff contributions, but I suspect its probably too difficult to calculate. I use the Iliyanbruen set for the HE, it provides nice criticals and no debuffs for the others, as well the useful healing benefits. Having tried High Prophet, Miracle Healer and Black Ice, it seems to provide the best results.
I also need to ask, do the temporary hit points using Divine Armour count towards the healing score ? If it does its a useful thing to use, you can use it on all the shooters that are not taking any damage as extra score.
i got the artifact from the rothe valley dragon on my DC
but i totally grinded like i have 1000 of those coins
i am still trying to get the belt but might give up and wait till i get to the skrimish or dungeon
Got arms, boots and headdress, but that's just RNG and nothing decent since. The major problem is once enough people show up the dragon die way too fast, like within a minute or two. That means nobody is taking enough damage for any healing to take place. I've parsed HEs where the dragon only get to do like 80k damage. You can pretty much write off those kinda fights. Ditto for tanking/taking damage.

Did over 150 of them so far, not even 1 epic item. I'll properly just wait till I can get them from the skirmish of the Dungeon. The HE's is not very DC friendly.
I've gotten 2 dragon bone icons and I think 3 great successes out of about 40 kills. Rest of the time its just coins and stuff.
So, yeah, not too successful yet, but I will keep on trucking.

I got a Dragon Bone Icon and an artefact in 10 kills, but it was on first day.

Update from me. I switched things around a bit to improve my healing more, and in 5 tries in Rothé, I got 2 purple rewards - the gaunlets and one Dragon Bone.
Basically, things work well enough IF I am the only DC and just heal, heal, heal and don't buff at all.
What about pulling all the trash? That increases damage done and damage taken for everyone. You'll have most of the aggro so slot your soulforged and carry lots of pots.
I'm not really much interested in the drops, but I do kill some of the dragons for the dailies. Sometimes I switch to full healing other times I don't bother.
Got a "Great Success" yesterday with my full dmg set up, using HG and everything. I'm full PVP set up so not sure how that happened but oh well, there were a good 10 people there killing the dragon too
Only enchantments, so far across all my characters. Looks like my horrible luck with HEs in Mod 3 is going to continue. But at least the gears are not bound any more.

keep astra seal on dragon entire fight, use flame strike every time up, use sacred flame to keep divinity filling up

^ for real it works. Got my drops in 3 days time. Only if I spill my beer do I not get a great success.

I'm not always play DC buff/debuff role, but when i do, i usually "win" necklace in delve chest.

Hmm... no - as far as I know, "participation" is not considered in any way in dungeon runs, just HEs (bot the dragon ones and the ones in IWD).
