as i was just considering going definitely on linux and as i can't afford right now a xen hypervirtualisation with pci or vga passthrough, my question is :
for you linux users, have you been able to play after the 8-core patch on linux? and if yes, with which method (wine or something else)?
I have not been able to get the Preview server to work at all using WINE, either before or after the 8-core patch. I'm a little worried that I won't be able to log in at all tomorrow.
No preview still doesn't work. Planning on using my windows partition to play as I don't expect it to run without likely some modifications to wine that are beyond me figuring out for myself.
I've tried parsing a 2 GB "+relay,+seh,+loaddll" log and applying various winetricks to no avail. (The bug report program CrypticError.exe gets called with "SetSharedMachineIndex", so you can search for that term in the log, then work your way backward in hopes of finding the culprit. I'm no expert, so someone else may have more success.)
No luck here, and I have done some serious tweaking with various versions of wine. The game has never broken like this before, and I've been playing since the start of Neverwinter, exclusively on linux. I debugged until I was blue in the face last night. No luck yet. There does appear to be hope though, hope found in other threads:

It looks like some of the developers are involved with sorting it out on the linux side. which is fantastic,
