Rogue and Cleric class balancing for Mod 5

I like what I've read in the latest post about the Class balancing changes coming in mod 4, but I'm a bit on the fence about the last part:
Trickster Rogues and Devoted Clerics – we haven’t forgotten about you! We’re already taking a similar look at each of these classes, and making changes that we think will improve both classes, as well as interaction with the rest of the classes. Look for these changes to come in Module 5!

I'm overjoyed that they've given their assurances that us Rogues and Clerics haven't been forgotten, but being an avid fan of my Rogue since closed/open beta I just want to say; The entire Cleric and Rogue community is watching and waiting Cryptic, I pray you won't disappoint us...

P.S. Thanks for all your hard work on Mod 4, can't wait to get started! :D

    That's good.
I can re-roll my GF now, just in time to re-roll my DC at the end of the year when Mod 5 hits (presumably).

    The rest still up-and-coming!

Just yesterday I rolled my first cleric. Once I got the hang of mostly staying put and healing myself through damage instead of frantically dodging or blocking etc. I realized that it is probably the most powerful class to level with. Finishing about 99% of fights with full health.

I understand why clerics get poo-pooed in PVP right now from reading the threads about it, and I get how some of our feats are absolutely TERRIBLE -- but overall, just from a newcomer's perspective, the cleric seems to be pretty well put together and fun to play. I guess my point here is that you should take a lot of online forum gripes with a grain of salt, for the most part. If someone says a class is "broken" or what-have-you they could just be having a bad day instead of correct.

thats good they are going to do in-depth balancing in Mod 5. However I hope they tweak the classes some before then. at the least make sure powers and feats are working.

Any kind of damage buff would be great for TRs right now for both pve and pvp.

I agree. Was running a dungeon with my son yesterday. He is a 9k CW and I am a 13k TR. He was regularly doing significantly more damage than I was. I remember 8-9 months ago that being very different! The TR definitely needs to be given back some of its single-target damage.

Err, eight or nine months ago CW DPS, at equal skill and gear levels, in Dungeon runs was also a LOT higher than TR DPS.

The only time this might have not been true was at the very, very start of Open Beta...

well ya, you wont have to use many pots, but honestly its not a fast leveler or daily class, its one of the slowest honestly. In the old days a combination of Forgemasters Flame , with SB/chains and DL would get you through anything, while solo, but FF was nerfed at some point to respect healing depression, so its not as easy as it once was.

For pvp, it works fine, if you use a certain build/setup to help your teamates win. Alot of the complaints stem from the remembering the pre tenacity days, where you could out heal certain classes damage and just sit there and laugh at it all. There has also been a constant nerfing (or "fixing") of certain feats/encounters and bugs that have been ongoing for the last 2 mods, which hasn't helped. the feat trees are almost all contained around small healing increments or small buffing increments (several of which were nerfed as well) and no unique set up builds really exist "per se".

I think I've seen you post in the temple area about clerics on a couple threads IIRC... isn't high-end PVP more about how good your gear is, instead of what class you play? Kind of a big power difference between a 9k lvl60 and a 15k lvl60 LOL

I would imagine that balancing all these classes for both PVE and PVP to be an extremely difficult undertaking. Look at how many variables there are to account for... plus they keep adding more, like artifacts, gear set bonuses, etc. I could see how balancing the gear might be more important to fair play than any kind of class changes there could be.

The commonsense thing to do is maybe to just bugfix all these classes very thoroughly before tweaking any numbers. Looks like armorpen is going to work for clerics now after mod4. Could be a game-changer for the class -- armor pen is kinda a big deal. :)

Hmm, well it sure felt a lot different back then. I was relying purely on my memory, but I remember being able to complete better at dealing damage with the CW than I do now. Maybe my power was a lot higher than the CW back then. . .

I am just a little bit afraid that any "DC balancing" will focus on making the DCs "equal" to other classes in PvP and that will finally and totally ruin the class for PvE purposes.

What I hope to see, however, is the possibility of creating three viable feat paths....focused on DPS, buffing and healing respectively....and yeah, havin all weat actually work as they are supposed to.

What I really, really hope, though, is that the devs will not even start messing with the DCs and TRs until the current major bugs have been fixed.
    Hoping for improvements...

No, you're likely remembering correctly. While Sneak Attack was nerfed in Beta, a number of the key TR powers were nerfed will after that including Lurker's Assault and Shocking Execution. Even permastealth players could put out some very high numbers before those nerfs.

I was hoping we could see some changes before mod 5, somewhere in between 4 and 5, but at least we got a cookie and they told us changes will be coming after all.
I hope they will take some ideas from teh TR/DC forum respectively, many people have given very nice ideas on changes to the classes.(at least TR, I haven't seen the DC forums)

I've got two free respecs saved up, but I don't think I am going to need either as a TR. We'll see.

No matter what they are going to do, TRs are lost for me completely. I just hope they won't become something like GWFs are now after all those revamps, accquiring the tittle of the most toxic and popular class ( yeah I know it is the most popular class now due to bots but let's not consider those mmkay)
