Goldspam

Goldspam needs to be dealt with. Hire an investigative team using some of that zen money and track them down. Then use a little more money to have them taken out. It has become nearly impossible to carry on a conversation and it is highly disrespectful of Arc to ignore their customers complaints. It's an issue that drives away customers. Just deal with it.

It's a hard issue to deal with when they just continue making new accounts. For every action a company takes against such sellers or scammers, the sellers come up with a way to bypass it.

It's easy to say why don't they deal with them. At the same time the sellers are thinking the same in reverse.

If you think nothing has been done up to this point, you are mistaken. Even the gold spammers admit Cryptic has been putting pressure on them by saying "we are back"

From day one Cryptic has been banning bots, adjusting the chat filter to eliminate words they use, and putting in systems to automute and autoban accounts that use the right key words to often. The moment a new system gets put into place the spammers find a way around it.

Even if you completely eliminated chat entirely, spammers would still find a way to spam.

Welcome to corporate warfare--which is what Cryptic vs. the goldsellers boils down to. Cryptic comes up with a new anti-spam measure, the sellers come up with a counter.

Simply because you see advertisements does not mean that nothing is being done--far from it. In the words of a famous historical figure, Cryptic has not yet begun to fight.

Wonder why chat is not filtered when the goldspammers use such obvious keywords...
Also I find it quite possible that even cryptic guys sell AD in this way...

What obvious key words? They already cant say WWW or .Com and have to use other symbols to replace them. You cant honestly filter the word gold. So what else is there?

How would you propose they solve it since anyone or any bot can just keep making new accounts for spam

    /facepalm

Yes, the cryptic devs are the ones who exploited the bugs (OR CREATED THEM ON PURPOSE) and now sell AD outside work thru 3rd party vendors. You found them out.

You do realize that they earn more money selling Zen than they would in the method you are proposing right?

Ridiculous for you to even assume that. Like the guy above me said: a big fat facepalm to your comment.

You'll never get rid of the spammer unless

    a) the game is dying and is no longer profitable for them.

    b) you ban those suspected of being their buyers and announce it so that their customer based dries up and it's no longer profitable for them.

    1. Did you really just come onto a forum and suggest that people should be killed?

    2. They are not hard to track down, they are not hiding.

    3. This isn't how it gets solved. The symptom can be addressed with basic heuristic filters. The cause can be addressed by making it far less profitable for them to be here; which is done easily enough by lowering the cost of $ paid to Cryptic for a million AD. In short, uncap the Zen:AD ratio so that less Zen buys much more AD.

If you ban suspects, as opposed to people you know to be guilty, you'll kill this game a helluva lot faster than the goldpammers will.

Then you will be forever stuck with the spammers. Personally the spam doesn't really phase me much. I regard it as a sign the game isn't dying yet.

I'll take the spammers being in the game a lot easier than a 'ban first, let the innocent prove it' attitude.

Gonna close this out as this isn't just out of left field anymore but from somewhere far beyond the left field cheap seats. Rest assured, though, Cryptic is taking measures against gold spammers.
