How is the Doohickey's damage determined?

"Use: You deal N damage to your targeted foe and nearby enemies."

I've looked at the Doohickey in the collection with seven different level 60 characters, and seen seven different values of N, ranging from 2,467 to 3,081. There's no obvious correlation with ability scores, hit points or power.

I was meaning to look into that , on preview on my CW it was showing as just under 3k damage but then I respecced and before I spent any points or used any stats I looked and the damage had gone down to the low 100's so maybe it is linked to whatever primary stat increases damage for your class?

Has anybody actually counted how many grommets are needed to refine a Doohickey? The last level alone needs about 2600 grommets and with less than 500 grommets per day farmed, I'm not sure I could gather that last level even in a week and that would just give one of the collection items/one shot for the mount.

Have they started to cash in with the events too with already 9mil zen purchase requests? Seems pure pay to complete event for me...

If you ask me, they should have left the 7th level all out and put everything one step down on purchase prices. With current systems all the better prizes will be rare as Roc's teeth even with those who participate in the event and almost non-excisting with those who who start later...

All in all I would say that as weekend event this really sucks. It should have been atleast week long event or more likely a month, especially with the 45 seconds or so internal counter that prevented any fast gathering of grommets.

It might be excellent idea to move the merchant into merchant square and make grommets common high level (60+) drop, in addition to the map tokens. With 0.1% mount chance the mounts wouldn't be too common, but you could still have shot for one once in a (long) while.

This would make actually it worth while to kill random mobs, as currently the tokens are only good to purchase seals for raw ad converts or the campaign tokens that are already flooding inventory with nothing to spend them without wasting AD.

This was the worst event I have seen to date. The only feasible way to get enough Grommets to get the chance to possibly get a cool collectable item was via the AD market. This would have made much more sense to have an event profession similar to the Spring Jubilee, especially considering Gond is the patron of invention, not misers

You could use Professions as well as farming Foundry maps. Even picking up 60 Grommets an hour, 8 hours a day for 4 days would get you only 1920 Grommets, which is only 9600 Refinement Points. I never saw anything else drop.

Unfortunately, I only found out you could use Professions with 12 hours left to go. I was rather fuming, as the Gond Merchant in PE never said a thing, just talked about drops if the enemy were within 7 levels of me.

Also unfortunately, I was able to make Wondrous Sprokets with Professions, but I had mostly high level resources, not so much Iron Ore, Simple Pelts, Pine Wood and Green Vitriol. So I had to take all my characters off leadership to Deep Gather resources and send them to my main character who managed to refine a single Thingamabob.

A badly presented, poorly described scam event designed to get people to pay Zen for blueprints.

Did anyone get the Doohickey rank 7 item only via farming/profession/upgrading without buying (for ADs or ZENs) Blueprints?

I don't see how they could have unless they went without sleep for the entire event and did nothing but farming.

This event could have been so much better if:
    1) Higher level items sometimes dropped (I-III instead of just I)
    2) For the crafting part of the event, higher-ranked crafting tasks using the higher-end version of the same materials (mithril instead of iron, etc) were added
    3) Rewards were actually worth getting.

For the amount of farming and/or Zen and/or ADs needed to get to a Doohickey, the drop chart was abysmal. For that much, EVERY item on the list should be worthwhile, but the majority of people got rubbish.

    Seriously... WORST. EVENT. SO. FAR.

Awesome event, made a small fortune selling grommets (800k+).

    BEST. EVENT. SO. FAR.

The event turned out to be a huge profit for people who work the AH. Because the refinement points were so unattainable, grommets went for unforseen prices in just seconds. I got frustrated, so I sold what I had, 15 seconds later, my 74 grommets netted 30k AD. So I then changed mindset to selling grommets rather than attaining any type of reward. Then, realizing I had a HUGE amount of the required crafting items, I put them up 50 at a time. They sold for anywhere from 5k-11k per stack, fast, like seconds fast. People realized it was more lucrative, and quicker, to simply sell crafting and grommets and buy Doohickeys. People were making so many AD, they were capping multiple toons (100Million AD) from this event, then putting in orders for ZEN (which was already backlogged.) Couple that with a bug people exploited in the Astral Resonators (which I forgot even existed, and this is just a rumor), it's no surprise, the bubble was bound to burst. From a gameplay point of view, the event was horrible, but it was a boon to those who knew what suddenly became commodities on the AH.

Well, yes. Here is how I would rank the events:

    Incredibly good: Respen's game

Really good: Summer and winter festivals

Pretty good: Masquerade event and Valindra's invasion

Decent: Tymora's, Waukeen, Liira .... unfortunately, in at least one case, the second time was far inferior to the first one.

    Not so special: Protector's jubilee,

    Bad: Wonders of Gond
    Hoping for improvements...

Yes I totally agree with the placing of all of them , you should add Tymoras 1 and 2 , Tymoras 1 was fantastic , tymoras 2 was meh although that is paying off now since the Coin is selling for 700k+ now but I still prefer the first time due to the Dragon eggs dropping so often.

You forgot CTAs, I'd put those in the "bad" category with Wonders of Grind due to lousy drop rates and companions not being sold for medallions.

I will never understand why they cannot or will not just add a bound version of the CTA companions to the CTA stores .

I found the CTA's were good, until recently. I farmed for 8 to 12 hours a day for all four days and got a ton of stuff, and so many medallions I could buy a wagon load of refinement caches.

Orc Assualt was my first - not bad for enchants etc, but I did not realise I could spend the Medallions of Battle.

Defend the temple was good, apart form the PvP level 60 GWFs sprinting round the map and dragging all the threat back to the beginners and getting them all killed. I did that one 86 times, got 7 companions and have a shed load of medallions, which I then spent, along with those from Orc Assault.

I got 7 Moonshea Druids and 6 Fire Spirites from whichever CTAs they were.

The Anniversary Event was quite good, as the end chest was reasonably generous. But I only got one Jester/Juggler companion

Battle of the Bridge was poor. Not a single companion and very low drop levels.

The Dragon one was rubbish. Not a single Lizard Shaman.

Gatecrashers I liked, but not a single Ustilagor

All of the others since Defend the Temple seem to have much lower drop rates and the refinement caches were not as lucrative.

I like the CTA's. But agree some bound version should be available, using those tokens (like u did witht he winter event)

All the other festivals Ive also enjoyed.

This event however, on a scale of 1 to 10. Id give it a -1.

    How I'd rank events:

    Excellent: Respen's Marvelous Game
Very Good: Tymora's Gift 1, Coins of Waukeen 1
    Good: Midsummer Festival, Winter Festival
Fair: Protector's Jubilee, CTAs prior to the last two, Challenge of the Gods, Valindra's Invasion
Poor: Last two CTAs with massively nerfed droprates, Tymora's Gift 2, Coins of Waukeen 2, Lliira's Night(Both times)
Godawful: Wonders of Gond, all cash shop 'events'.

I got a doohickey. I had to spend money on zen to do it. I also got a donation from a wonderful person. I also spent every waking moment not filled with having to do RL things grinding for grommets. It was pain.

Wonders Of Gond Event: terriable....spent all that time farming and saving to make a doohickey and after 3 days of all that work i got nothing had like 2,ooo groments...event said high chance of mount and i got the shaft... the game lied and it was just something to pass the time till tuesday...I think they should have rewarded those who worked hard for the event and did the work for the mount...unlike others that just buy it all to do and dont do hardly any work...not only that no event should have made you spend any money to refine its not even showing up in my zen market to buy the blueprint...HATED THIS EVENT WORST SO FAR!!!

I have some cogs and stuff saved up from the last time this event ran, but I am extremely unlikely to purchase anything from the Zen store until I know what becomes of the companion promotion fiasco/blunder. I have the Doohickey on 1 character, and another banked... so my main drive for this event is pretty much satiated at this point.
