In Game: Patching 1 file, 0 bytes/s

I had this happen with GG and it literally took 45 minutes for the last file, now it is happening on my new GWF as well. Internet is fine, game has ran where I am and patched hundreds of times, so why in the heck is this happening? No I haven't checked ports or done any of that troubleshooting because it doesn't make any sense that I've done all this before, and patch on lala everyday.

Anyone know if there is a fix? I've tried different connections, as far as my apartment, or my school? With GG it just happened to go through after like 40 minutes of 0, it jumped up and finished. I get that Arc is really bad, and that the launcher is sometimes even worse. But this isn't even their problem as I am logging in and get this message....

Any tips? Am I crazy? Is it just a normal bug?

Action - Sit and wait, any trick I can do? Has this been reported before? Couldn't see a thread.

Thank you

Update - I forgot to add that it sits at 0 for a few minutes, and then it will jump up to normal download speed for a split second, then it stops again. Again and again and again and again lol

If you don't have limited internet to where you have to watch how much you download, you can just turn off on-demand patching in the options when you first open the client (before starting the game). That will download every single file so you won't have to worry about that at loading screens.

Edit: Its a lot extra stuff to download, just a heads up.

Haha I know man... I hate PVE, I hate it so much. I did CN a few thousand times and that was it. Speed runs took over and the gear just got worse and worse for my class. And now it is the PVE coming to bite me in the *** because I want to level up a new guy after playing a GF solely for over a year. I guess that is what I'll ahve to do though, it is just 1 freaking file though!

4.7 gigs, when I just need 1 f'n file to work. Cmon Cryptic. It is the little things that end up making you guys look so foolish and incompetent. Not the big things like skin in your inventory, or some new event that ends up being bugged and abused, the little things.

Like how long did it take for the inventory sort to be fixed? I bet you lost a couple thousand players to that bug alone. It's not week 1 anymore, you have a ton of money, and a lot of staff. Figure it out and fix the little things that the people who actually play want. It isn't Joe Shmoe, a level 15 who gets a forum account and *****es about something that matters. It is the guild leaders, or top pvp players, and sure, PVE granted it is so screwed up now, that you should listen to! You have such a good thing going, and you constantly screw it up by not caring, and even more specifically not admitting your faults and sugar coating everything. Like honestly, how hard is it to get a launcher to work? I logged into runescape for like 8 years and never had a problem. Stop trying to re-invent the wheel, and just roll it. It's done a pretty good for a few thousand years. you aren't good enough or creative enough to do something that hasn't been done. You have a good name, and a good set of rules with D&D, stop tainting the name, and actually listen to the community, and you'll be blown away with the money you get, not to mention the moral of the players which is a clear 5th or 6th on the list.

    Hi,

I have this problem also from time to time.

One way i was told to try is to pre-load the whole game and dont use the on-demand patching (in the options menu in the
game login window), but i dont like it because its huge patching and i play end game content so i don't care about the whole patch.

so after the 3rd time it happened to me i tried to do something about it, i actually disconnected from the internet (wifi or wire)
and then the game timeout on connection. the "patching 1 file 0 bytes" message was still on.

then i reconnect and the enter my password to get to my character list, at this stage it seems that the patching
    starting to 'move' again.

i then usually let it finish the patching phase, because once it got stuck again after trying to
load my character before it finishes the patching, and when the 'patching 1 file' message is gone I load my character.

i dont know if this is a solution but it worked for me where I use the on-demand patching option
    HTH

Definitely not starting again for me :/... Does anyone have any clue? I figure it is a corrupt file, but I can't find any threads on this, but it is really frustrating. I don't want to have to do the whole 10 gigs all over again, so some staff support would be really nice!!!!!!!

you should disable the "patching on-demand" in the luncher screen -> option-> untick "pacthing on demand"... otherwise everytime you go somewhere it keep downloading data ...

Well this is a necro but this is your solution.

On demand patching has never worked well since beta, it only causes problems so disable it and you're game will run much better.

Im facing the same issue as well. Absolutely no game freezing or lags for the past few months. Only happened a few months back when alot of players are facing this server not responding issues and it got fixed one day by itself unknowingly. It occurs to me too today. I had tried all mention solutions and still the same issues.
