Getting rooted in PvP

I've been experiencing a rooting effect in Domination games recently. The effect is similar to being rooted by someone with a cockatrice companion in Open PvP. The players I was fighting when I experienced this effect did not have any enchantments or class features that would seem to cause this effect, so it seems like the cockatrice effect is somehow being applied in Domination matches.
