Rivenscar Ruins spawn camping...

So.. just played some PvP on this map in which before the countdown even finished, two enemy players were in our campfire attacking us.. We also had an AFKer (as usual..), so naturally we got behind in the game - then those same 2 people appear in our campfire again and just kill our team as we spawn until time ran out. I'm not sure how they did this or if it's possible to do from both campfires or not. We were on the left spawn when facing towards the center point.

I searched the forum for this and hadn't seen any info on this particular exploit, forgive me if I've missed it. A lot of things adding up to make PvP a really unenjoyable experience. Please address :(

Thanks

Been in a couple matches that people did that. Should be instant death for other team if you up there, or booted from match even.

It will be solved. According to a Module 4 patch note:

This can happen on both maps, I have been victim to it in Hotenow and Rivenscar.

I do not understand why the geared premade PVP guilds need to do this against opponents they quite clearly outgear. I was attacked in our camp last weekend by another 5-man guild.
PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.

Hah, typical PvP guild nuff said, haven't seen a single premade of any known pvp guild pulling stuff like that on people. How is it even fun when you know that your enemy can't strike back so you feel it and can actually die? Ffs, experiencing this unsportsmen like behavior this since I ran into prototype's premade back in old days. Bunch of steamrolling selfish idiots...
I do like those are slowly dying out though. Bad fame is never good.

Glad it's getting fixed in m4. Everyone who tries camping enemy's camp fire will instantly die.

Hi, just started the game a couple of days ago, and been mostly doing domination. Came up against a full guild team that did this (camp the respawn point). Any fix coming, or is it intended game function? Just to know to just quit next time.

Because many of them are sociopathic ego-maniacs who've been into the "winning is the only thing matters" mentality for such a long time, that they can't feel any fun when they meet average level players whom they can trump with their eyes closed. It's actually a quite sad story.

To them, average level game-playing is not fun any more, and the only opponents they have that can give them a competitive gameplay comes from their own small, handful ranks, so they play against the same people over and over and over and over again.. and then soon get bored by it.

But unfortunately, with their attitude concerning winning and competition, trying out any different build or class variety is simply not an option for them. For instance, if they are TR players, they will gladly try the IV Sentinel GWF, or the Pathfinder HR -- but they will never really try CWs or GFs, and vice versa. Anything that makes them feel even a little bit weaker, they will refuse it like a catholic refuses suicide. They get bored when playing against average people because they are so strong, but they can never accept any voluntary handicap to make the game more fun -- since their brains can't process the concept of "having fun without the necessity to win".

So, as time progresses, the boredom takes over, and soon the only way they find any stimulus in PvP, is by becoming a griefer. They can no longer enjoy the pure "competition" and "gameplay" aspect of PvP. They move over to hurting others' feelings, unnerving and/or frustrating people, playing in a distinct manner that is purposely designed to make others feel really bad -- and from such sadistic intent, is the only way they find fun. Usually when this happens its 6~12 months tops until they soon get even bored by that, and then simply quit and move over to other games to do the exact same shi* over and over again.

    ...

It's actually a common psychological wreckage to happen with people who get too much engrossed in the competition. Happens in any game, any MMORPG. Usually the largest population of these wretches resides within the top-notch PvP player groups where egos and testosterone run like the river Jordan. ;)

[Edit] Of course, to every griefer, there are also perfectly normal people within PvP guilds as well. Many players still retain their sanity even if they become top notch.

Its just that a few of them have a tendency to go rotten -- like a zombie that's leftover from the apocalypse would just go rotten and hungry without anything to feed on. So these batch of phails, can't really interact with anyone else. They'd almost never do such a thing against people they feel that are "worthy of their presence", and yet, they'd do that griefing shi* to anyone they find "unworthy" of their attention -- including even their own teammates.

For instance, every now and then you'd find one of those "BiS of BiS" players with very high skill level come in to your team, and then he would do nothing to help the team win. He doesn't listen to requests, or suggestions. He doesn't even bother answering others. All he does is whatever he wants, chase enemies, do something foolish on purpose, drop dead and not return to the field after respawn... just play as if he was playing solo. And yet, when you see how the guy plays in general you KNOW he could do a lot better if he really wished to do so.

...basically, griefers are a phenomenon that were around since the 90's. You just need to get used to it. When there's an exploit, surely enough someone will use it to grief you.
Stop making excuses. Be a man.
If you know something to be broken, stop using it.
Otherwise, you've got no right to be speaking of 'balance.'

    Sadly this is true!
As you said we should not also forget the humble and noble people within pvp guilds. Players who like actually challenge and only seek such. I never got whats the joy of stomping and griefing, and everybody I see who does that spawncamping is instantly removed from my friend list.
Your psychological analysis is accurate. The enviroment in high-end pvp is toxic and sociopathic behaviour. And thats the very reason why such as a pvp tournamant that was tried to etablish will never actually happen.

Many skilled and dedicated players get lost in their own egos. Just look in the pmvspm channel. Its buisness as usual that some of these players scam others for millions of millions AD, insult them and w/e. Its their last kick they can get in a game that has nothing more to offer and they cant offer anything to the game as well.

The strategy is simple: Me and my guild refuses to play against these "disrespecting" *cough cough cough* guilds. Because in the end, they have to stand around bored as everyone else, all their gear and skill wasted because of their rotten egos.

    +1 ;)
I hear "learn to play" all the time, but it seems to me that it should be defined as "my class is balanced, except when others beat it, then THAT class is OP"...

I've had that happen, too, with a Synergy premade whilst pugging. Two of our team members quit, so after a while they climbed on our node all "do you want to play a game". The match was almost over at that point, though, so they didn't get any kills, but it wasn't for a lack of try-harding.

Most Synergy and Exodus players (or any pvp guildies) I've met have been very nice and great teamplayers, but apparently when yout put five people of a certain personality trait into the same team, they'll mar the reputation of their guild.

It's alive, it's alive! Serious though despite the necro, this is why safe zones are a bad idea. You'll get those that decide it's not worth trying anymore sitting on them, and people irritated by this trying to get in. Just build a ramp and do away with the whole idea. If you get a mismatch and get stomped, well you knew that was possible when you queued. I've been stomped, it sucks, but it happens.
