i would love to see a bounty system put in place so that you could put gold down or even diamonds or both to go into a chest and whoever then slays a certain player would get that reward and the player who gets the bounty put on them if high enough you get a boon or an achievement or title or something im sure the devs could do something like this and it might be a good gold/diamond sink
haha that sounds like fun I would love to be a bounty hunter or even keep alive while someone hunts me. The only thing is though it would be very unfair and boring with multiple people fighting one guy like if 1 person had a bounty on them it would be much more fun for it to be a 1v1 thing.
i first saw this in an old text mmo i use to play where you would put a price on someones head and it would get higher and higher depending how much they ticked off other players there was one that was worth like 2 billion gold but he was so elusive and this game was pvp everywhere except for cities he just knew all the maps so well no one could catch him
It worked in SWG, because it was an open sandbox style game. It would simply not work here. Just trying to find a target with all the zones and instances would be next to impossible. And even if you could find someone, its insanely easy to just change zones and slip away. You could lock targets in the zone, but that might also tip them off that they are being hunted and they can just log out.
Even if you deal with all these issues. You then have to decide what to do with PE. If you make it a safe zone. Your bounty system becomes worthless. Anyone could hang out there in total safety and queue into content at their leisure. If you make it a combat area, you will only annoy everyone else there with lag and combat. It will quickly become unpopular with enough players to make it a no go.
Put simply, its one thing to say, this would be cool. Its something else, to make it work with game mechanics and player base. And this idea is simply not thought out enough to work.
way to put a negative spin on it lol even if they were hanging out at PE they have to do dailies eventually lol oh and btw you cant change zones in ice wind pass unless you get an invite to a party but i do see your point
So easy to exploit that it should never be added. I get a second account to multibox with and go out to annoy as many people as possible. I wait till there is a bounty then kill myself with my main. It's easy I'm not going to fight myself back. Hey look at that I just got paid to annoy people.
I think this idea leads into player griefing and that is not the business Cryptic will spend their resources into.
Did you see how they did open world pvp? You can't switch instances, there are too many instances, you can easily change factions if you get butthurt too much etc etc.
They want to protect casual players too much. You think they will go 180 from that and go one step further and follow your suggestion?
I can think of a few compulsive QQ'ers I'd put a 100k bounty on in an eyeblink. Lol. But no, don't think this will happen, without having a bounty on your head automatically flagging you as the equivalent of an enemy monster so everyone in any zone could take a pot shot at you. Could be fun though, if implemented right, perhaps after the first shot/strike the wanted target would be able to strike back, and possibly take you out if they were powerful enough, and to beat cheaters using alts, the fight would be automatically recorded and hosted on youtube or an in-house media platform or something. Then someome appointed as sherrif could adjudicate on the award of the bounty.
The death of the wanted man or woman would have to be meaningful too, a one day no log in penalty or something perhaps. Though yeah, I can see major griefing opportunities here.
Meh, I wish Neverwinter was an sandbox like open world ._.
Just imagine, an opportunity for suggestions like OP provided and no more queues for dungeons in any place! People would actually need to come into certain location and enter the dungeon there.
I heard this game engine wouldn't bear open world though...

Bounty systems in the 'modern' time of MMOs won't work anymore.
Since the target audience that Neverwinter has (Europe/North America mainly) sadly embraces the 'Troll' culture and the 'Yolo' style, bounties would be placed 'for the lulz', and people would use Alt accounts to cash in the bounties on their own characters.
Even Pay2Play MMOs are not immune from that, before they changed the Bounty System in that game, EVE had a bounty system where people annoyed people enough to get a multimillion bounty, then they jumped into an 'empty' spare clone body that had nothing to lose, flew to 'unregulated' space, exited their ship (to only sit in a paper hulled escape/control pod) and used the alt account to shoot the 'criminal' account. Payout aquired, and usually, it made MORE than up for the cost of a new clone.

Great idea anyway.
