Good work on the keys, first off. I know a lot of people who were making a profit off them are upset, but all in all it's a good thing. Now, coal wards need to be fixed. First off, coal wards are having the same problem as keys, just more AD required to start it. You can exchange for AD, by Coal Wards, and sell them in the AH for more then the exchange, making a gradual profit. If, however, you add Coal Wards to the wondrous Bazaar for their zen exchange equivalent, then people will go there instead of the AH. The people trying to "jupe" the system with the exchange and the AH will no longer have a market (AD sellers) freeing up the exchange. Also people will be able to get coal wards easier. Since right now the exchange is backed up and you guys just bound keys so you can't really use keys to get bars to get coals easily. This gives players another viable option for wards, which are pretty much needed end game, without allowing others to hold them out of reach for only the rich in AD or really patient on the exchange.
And lastly, this would put in a much needed AD sink. If you sell for the 500 ad per zen, based on the 1000 zen for a coal (way to high of a price btw. But that's a different thread.) that creates a 500k sink per person that buys it. I'd recommend selling them for closer to the 300k mark but that's just me. So to reiterate.
1. Takes away mass AD earning potential from gold sellers. AD exchange to zen, buy coal, sell on AH method.
2. Makes coal wards more available.
3. Creates a much needed AD sink to lower general AD amounts and lower global economy.

Or how about just make Coal Wards drop in epic tier 2 dungeons?
I don't really like that idea as it leads to underground 3rd party trading that I'd rather not openly discuss on the forums.
Have them drop in tier 2 dungeons, enable players to EARN it. Cut out the BS.

Lowest coal right now is 569k. It's not so much beating the AH price, it's beating the price when it gets higher then 500k. If nobody can profit off the buy zen through exchange, sell coals for more on AH scheme, then it's a win. Also with keys being harder to buy now, people are going to have less of a chance at coals. They would be MORE likely now to buy AD from a 3rd party site because coals are +500k and they're only going to go higher as more people buy them to make up for the lack of keys. AND gold sellers take a hit, because they can't easily make a huge amount of AD just by manipulating the exchange/AH. So if they have less AD to sell since the coal AD is going into the sink, and less people will want to buy because the exchange/wondrous bazaar will have coals for a constant 500k, gold sellers lose.
You are missing the point. The wonderous Bazzar does not require that you spend real money on the game. Zen does. I know the mods frown on pointing out that Cryptic and PWE are business that want to make a profit but realistically you cannot look at the market without recognizing these things. Gold and AD are internal currencies that do not make revenue for the company. Zen, even obtained from the ZAX, had to be created by paying money into the business. So any point at which Zen becomes a choke-point for advancement is a revenue opportunity for the business model. Coals being BoP was one point on the critical path but avoidable by keys and Tamurlane. Making keys (also only created by the expenditure of zen) closed the loophole in that market dynamic. And look I am not saying that PWE are greedy evil men who want our money. I am saying that they want to be able to pay devs and mods and server space and still make a little money for themselves. I do doubt that they way that they pursue these ends may not be the best.

I did make a suggestion of making coal wards drop from tier 2 dungeons so I don't buy the "people have less chance at coals".
Players can now EARN coal wards. I think that is the way to go.
we can get one from daily invocation now may be a really low rate but possible. I personally like the idea however I do not see it happening at 500k each from the wonderous bazaar, maybe 600k each at least that way it still pushes people to buy with zen.
I don't think anyone would object to them being slightly more expensive as when bought with zen. It creates a maximum AH price, while still leaving some profit for the zen buyer. Earning them would only make sense if the RNG is NOT involved in the drop. Knowing Cryptic, the RNG will be horrible towards dropping it. Working to get AD, then buying them is enough earning for me.
Awful Idea to RAISE prices on coal wards?
How long should you have to grind to be able to afford one componenet of one enchantment upgrade?
500k is too much, it should be around 250k, unless the stated point of game is to grind one character for ten years to get top gear enchants.
AD sinks don't work because they are too expensive, so lets make this one cost more?
I'm curious so I spent about 60 minutes online to see how people are doing this. It's information that is pretty easy to find honestly. I have zero interest in using or being involved in these "exploiters" in any way shape or form however you need to understand how something works if you want to stop it. From what I can gather most of the AD issues in this game still stem from months ago.
The only way 3rd party buyers would be getting "account info" is if people pay for the power levelling service which is laughable in this game as it only takes a couple of days to hit 60 for most I would think this is a very, very small part of the gaming population. For buying AD which is the vast majority of the exploitation by 3rd parties there is no account info needed, just look at the AH it's still full of multi million dollar "junk items". PW could easily get a lot of these " farmers" by just doing some basic detective work.
If I was part of PW and I had all the information they have available I would get one of the team to go to these sites buy 5 or 10 million AD's from the farmers, get the account name that bought the junk items then follow that money back through in game records to the "prime" accounts. These guys are not stupid just go to reddit and read about them bragging about how easy it is to make thousands of US dollars in NW and have only had a mule or two banned which does nothing to stop them from profiting off these types of games as their "nest eggs" remain untouched. There are people that made billions before and during "Caturday" that still have these hundreds of millions of AD's and have spread them around on multiple accounts and then move these a few million at a time to "mule" accounts that do the transactions. All they need to do is follow these mule accounts back to where they are getting bankrolled from and they could flush hundreds of millions of exploited AD's from the game. That is what I'd do if I was part of the dev team responsible for "fixing" the issues. If you make it hard enough for them to make $ in this game they'll just move onto another game and farm there. Of course you won't likely get them all but you could get the whales that are responsible for a large % of the AD been sold out there. Pretty simple really just like real life if you want to find the corruption "Follow the money".
I wish PW the best in fighting these guys but they really need to focus on getting the exploited billions from months ago before they worry about the few millions been created by bot armies if they want to fix this...
I never said the prices should be raised. I suggested them being slightly more expensive than when bought directly via zen so people will still want to buy zen, but don't have to if they pay a little more. This also allows for the people with zen to make a little profit from selling, but at the same time put a limit on the prices.
Also, there's no way in the 9 hells Cryptic would sell them below the zen/AD price.
They should permanently reduce the zen price. Something that's very obvious to players but for reason they can't seem to figure that $10 for a simple virtual item than you need a fair few of is just not worth the price.

500K (or $10) is WAY too much for a consumable. I stopped buying them when they hit 200K. With the Key change, I won't even be able to buy them with tradebars. Getting them from coffers is like getting an artifact from chests. In fact, it's so bad that there really isn;t a reason to ake sure to play everyday, at least long enough to Invoke. My toons are stuck with their current enchants.
I can't believe anyone buys them, unless they're using gold sellers.
They pretty much screwed up in two big areas and are now paying for it by overcompensating for an overpriced $10 coal ward at the zen store.
These screw-ups are:
1. Exploiters being able to easily get full tier-2 gear by exploiting dungeons
2. 7/7 prayer rewards in the past giving a certain faction of the players who participate in praybotting tons and tons of coal wards
What did these events do? It shook Cryptic. They don't know what to do. Right now, it is incredibly difficult for a new F2P player to come in and progress the game. However, there are too many players with full tier 2 gear, rank 9s/10s and legendary artifacts making an imbalanced landscape. How? Exploits not getting fixed and exploiters not getting punished.
Cryptic made its own bed and now they are overcompensating.
Says who? People had that before the new refinement system and they wanted to make it easier for people to get higher ranked enchantments. Though rank 10s weren't actually any easier really. Even then most people don't have rank 10s and it still takes a lot of effort. Most of the ones that do probably even paid for them.
It should take months if not longer to get 1 perfect enchantments. Not 2 days. We've already outgrown the content. Let's not make it worse.
I'd like to know this person who can get a perfect enchantment in 2 days. It DOES take months... Especially since loot is now less valuable with it being older and no viable new content to replace it.
We've already outgrown the content. Let's not make it worse.
That was their fault, not ours. They gave us tonnes of extra gs via artifacts and made no new content worth doing so of course the old content got easier, especially when we get more and more practice.
Anyone here dare guess what the future will bring?
Ad sellers offer coal wards to trade, cryptic binds them, sellers offer enchantments and ad still, doubt cryptic would go as far to bind those too unless they really want to push their luck.
The exploit for rank 5s wasnt anything special anyway. It still required 4 rank 4s and gave 4x the rp as rank 4s. Basically the exploit resulted in extra efficiency.
I do not think anyone is buying Coal Wards off Zen market and putting them on the AH.
1. It is too risky and the price going under 500,000 + the 10% commision makes it way to risky to bear - why risk $10 to make atm 35k AD.
2. The Coal wards on the AH are from peeps exchanging them Tarmalune Trade Bars.
3. Cryptic does not care - Before C Wards could be sold that were gotten after 7 days Invocation. prices in AH were 100k AD and that was good to sell at. NOw they are BOP and all of AH went the same - prices sky high. If cryptic wanted them cheaper they would just simply stop the ones gotten from invocation being BOA.
4. I would not go against them being sold at the bazaar - but - they would probably be over 500,000 AD (like the Cat is more expensive then the Stone) - and that would destroy even more of the "so called player driven market" - How is it a player driven market when they manipulate the supply and demand.
5. Is just plain old cheaper to buy the enchantment off AH already made. Unless you are going for a rank 10 or Perfect - just buy it - I assure you none of them were made with C wards bought off the zen market.
6. Try your luck with normal wards - I did once and made and enchantment after 5 of them.
Anyways, stop c - wards being boa - from invoking and bring the price down on the zen market - But then again the sense of achievement gotten from having these rare enchantments is just that - a sense of achievement - which cryptic needs to keep the player coming back - a good reward of virtual dopamine!!!
Cheers

Now they just use the Coalescent Wards to make the Enchantments and sell em - making 200k more then the CW sold for + before they sold a CW for 100k now its 500k - they make an enchantment for 60k and sell it for 350k. undercutting the 500k CW but making 290k - 10% commision of course.

If people had an equal chance at obtaining coal wards, they'd be less likely to buy the enchantments off the AH and more likely to just make them themselves. I agree that coal wards should also be dropped out of epic t2 dungeons. Combining these two things would allow players to either grind their own AD or get lucky in dungeons. And if the dungeon coals are found, they would need to sell on the AH for less then wondrous bazaar and zen store prices to actually make business, keeping the market from skyrocketing while providing cheap wards every now and then.
The coal wards in the wondrous bazaar could never sell for less then the zen store exchange. It's just stupid business practice to give your players a benefit for NOT paying. I agree the zen store prices are to much, but this thread isn't here to whine about zen store prices. Feel free to start your own threads for that.
This will never happen as it goes against what Cryptic has been working towards for the past few months, that is to make the price of C wards available in AH to be on par with the price of those in the Zen Market. They have finally achieved that via various measures taken (reduce drop rate from invocation, BOA C wards from T bar vendor etc etc) and some C wards in AH cost more than those in Zen market now. This will funnel players who want C wards to start buying them from Zen market, which I think is their ultimate aim. So Why would they offer C wards in Wondrous Bazaar when they don't earn a single cent from the transactions??
Face it, if you want C ward, you have to fork out the Zen market price at the very least, with cash or/and AD, and get it via some form of Zen transactions where cryptic will get a cut.
Edit: For those who said this would be a good AD sink, I agree. But they will not do it to make it a viable AD sink when it will cut into their profit. Case in point, mount and companion upgrading cost...
