For New Level 60 Players

Hello everyone,

I would like to write a quick list of some advices for recent level 60 players who don't know what to do and how to catch up the seasoned players.

I'm a simple player like you, a common Devouted Cleric who started during Open BETA.

Let's start:

General Advices

-At level 60 you should visit game's forums and check your class' forums. Read a guide about your class so you know what enchants to buy and what stats you want.

-It is boring, but slowly level Leadership, it is a free Astral Diamond and GOLD source.

- I will mention some advices on how get the things, but there are deep guides for everything, read them.

Initial Gear

As soon as you reached level 60, you should check if you have some Astral Diamonds.

-Read a class guide and find a good build for your class, see if your powers and feats are well distributed...if not. You must get a retraiting token and distribute your powers and feats for good performance. (This is one of the first things to do).
If you don't have enogh Astral Diamonds, I will refer some ways to get it futher in the guide.

-If you have some, I recommend you to visit the Action House and buy Rare (Blue) Equipment. The blue equipment is very cheap, it's like 200-2000 Astral Diamonds per piece, depending of the slot. Don't buy a blue necklace, Lord Neverember will give you a quest which upon completion will award you an epic cloak (tier 1)
Also, there is ALOT of Epic equipment (Tier 1) at low prices. You will be able to find Belts, for 3000-5000 Astral Diamonds and Non-set Armor Pieces for 6000-9000 Astral Diamonds. If you want a quick boost, you can buy them, but have in mind, Tier-One items will be replaced quickly by tier 2 items. I still recommend you to buy rare armor, and then getting tier 1 by doing dungeons.

-Purchase a Green Shirt and Pants, they are very cheap! (thank you hudman21 for reminding me)

-Now that you no longer wear green/white items, you should purchase rank 5 enchantments.
Since you will use your rare armor for a short period of time, you should not spend money on high rank enchantments.
Purchase Rank 5 Enchantments and slot them into your armor.
For your blue gear, I don't recommend you to fill "utility" slots, so at your blue armor, don't put enchants into utility slots, because you will replace it quickly. If you want to put something there, use rank 4 enchantments, they are cheaper.

General Progression

Now that you're literally blue and have some decent enchants, you can start fighting.

- Accept and complete some general level 60 quests at Protector's Enclave, two of them will give you epic items. One of those epics will give you stats (you will use it) and the other will give you 6000 Astral Diamonds through salvaging (thanks truckula).

- Accept the "Campaign" quests and finish the initial quests that allow you to enter the Campaign Zones

- Join a guild, this is important as it will help you to gain more Astral Diamonds and better equipment.

- Invocate one time a day (minimum), this is very important as it will allow you to finish the campaigns faster.

- Press L everyday you login and then click "daily quests" at the lower right corner of the window. Accept the daily quests there are.

- Check Lord Neverember Daily quests everyday. Sometimes they are very easy to complete and give alot of Astral Diamonds.

Campaign Progression

- Since you are a new player and you just reached level 60, you will have three(!) Campaigns to complete. There is a way to accelerate it:
* For Sharandar and Dread Ring, you can buy a special Coffer, from Vault of Piety after you invocated for 6 consecutive days. Buy the Campaign Coffer each week from the Vault of Piety with your Celestial Coins. You will have to choose which of the two campaign you want to finish faster, have in mind that both of them will increase your gear score.
* For Sharandar and Dread Ring you can buy two special items from the Auction House which are very cheap. Fomorian Blood and Onyx Fragment. Those items can be exchanged for Campaign resources. Imagine that you need more Moon Crescents (Sharandar Campaign)..if you don't have time, you can buy some Fomorian Blood from the Auction house and get the crescents that you are missing.
On other hand if you are lacking vanguard scripts for Dread Ring, buy Onyx Fragments.
* Once a week you will have a quest that will give you alot of resources for each Campaign. You can do them only one time a week, and the "timer" resets each Monday. Do the weekly quest of each Campaign zone once a week.. You don't need to do it immediatly at monday, you will have 7 days to do it.

Astral Diamond Generation coupled with Gear Aquisition

While getting better gear you also might want to make some Astral Diamonds;

- Do Iron Tibernacle Event (PVE). How? When you see that the event is active, enter the Gauntgrym in the last 5 minuts of the event and Kill at least 1 mob. Then check the "score" board by pressing "X" and see if your name appears there. If it does and you have 1 point, you will receive a "Share". It is a special item that will allow you to enter the tier 1 instance called "Fardelver's Crypt".

-Do Armories of Moradin. How? At the last 10 minuts (if your guild is Luskan Corsairs, if not..well it is not easy to join PVP as Delzuon..too many people on that faction) join PVP and capture at least 3 bases. This will make sure that you will receive another "share". This second share together with the PVE share, will allow you do join Dwarf King Crypt (tier 2 dungeon). If you have the share from PVE or PVP phases, alone, the game will only let you do the tier 1 instance.
Correction by pitshade: "You can get a second GG share without doing PVP. Grab some lumber and boulders for the catapults or help out the giant. When the phase changes, you'll get your share as long as you got points doing the PVE objectives."

*If your faction wins (in General, not just the PVP fight in which you participated, look at the BIG bar at the center-top of your screen) and you can join a group for the Tier 2 instance (Dwarf King), do it as a GREED RUN.
If someone needs in the end, and you decided that it is a greed run from the start. DON'T roll, right click the portrait of the person who needed and click "vote to kick". At the reason field write: Greed run, he/she needed.. After you initiated the Vote Kick, wait until the people decide and then roll the epic item.
Dwarf King's Crypt is a good plac to get Astral Diamonds if you are lucky, because it always drops a Tier 2 Armor piece + the Gauntlgrym Coins from the chest.

* If your faction lost, do Fardelver's Crypt GREED runs. This greed runs sometimes when you're lucky will give you epic items so you can sell at the Auction house or use them and Gauntlgrym Coins.

- Use Gauntlgrym Coins to purchase the Tier 2 PVE set for your class. It might not be the best set for you, but it is a tier 2 armor set and it will increase your gear score. If you don't like the set, don't refine it, keep it. You can directly trade your PVE set for a PVP set (gauntlgrym sets only).

- Use Gauntlgrym Coins to purphase Glory with which later you can buy an Artifact (PVP) to increase your Gearscore (Do this if you don't like the tier 2 PVE/PVP sets from Gauntlgrym)

- Use the Seals of Unicorn to buy epic items from the seal trader and salvage them (unless you want some specific item from the seal trader, anyway, after you got it, use the seals to generate Astral Diamonds). The best items to purchase for salvaging are the Rings (thanks to asmodeus451)

- Use Drake Seals to buy epic items and salvage them (same as above, but this one drop much more in Tier 2 Dungeons)

- If you won an epic and it is NOT bound to you. Don't forget that you can send it to your second character who can salvage it (you can salvage items as soon as you enter Protector's Enclave). This is very useful as sometimes your "daily refine limit" will be reached and you will need to refine Rough Astral Diamonds with another character.

Building your gear:

When you get the tier 1 or simply everything epic and you have decent gear score to join Tier 2 dungeons. Around 12K Gearscore is fine for most Tier 2 dungeons (except Castle Never and the Tier 2.5).

- Do the Dungeons to complete the best Tier 2 set version for your class
- Buy/make the Lesser Soulforged Enchantment and a Weapon enchantment (see which is best for your class at forums):
*There is a 3% chance to get a Coalscent Ward from a Coffeer of Wondrous Augumentation (seven consecutive days of invocation). This chance is too low and I recommend you, as a new level 60, to buy the campaign boxes so you get gearscore faster.

- After you have your Tier 2 set and the essential enchantment, you must make a choice:
* Gather Astral Diamonds for your Augumentation Companion Dont forget, that if you get your augumentation companion, you will also have to get the gear to put inside of it.
* Gather Astral Diamonds to buy best accessories
* Gather Astral Diamonds to buy rank 7 enchantments for your class.

(I went for the Augumentation Companion after I had my armor set. I also bought some Rank 6 enchantments to have abit more gear score while farming AD for the Ioun Stone...but this is up to you...because this is wasting astral diamonds for some quick gear score boost).

- After you have the companion and rank 7 enchants gather Astral Diamonds for tier 2 weapon set.

Futher Gear score Progression

With the tier 2 set, accessories, tier 2 weapon set, rank 7 enchants and the Campaign Boons there are only 2 sources of Gear Score left:
*Artifacts
*Companion Active bonus

You must choose if you want to have these first or if you want to futher Upgrade your Enchantments to rank normal..greater ...perfect or 8..9..10.

- Check your class forums and see what artifacts are the best for your class. Don't forget, you can always get 2 artifacts fairly easily. Level 25 Quest Artifact and PVP Artifact(Bloodcrystal Raven Skull) are good sources of gear score.

- Check your class forums to see what active bonuses you want and then buy companions with active bonuses that you need.

NOTE: Companions that have a "special effect" or "%" as an active bonus do NOT give Gear Score. Only companions with direct "stats" will give you more gear score from their active bonus. It makes no sense, but this does NOT mean that you must only have companions that give stats as active bonus.

And this is it...after all this..there is little left...you can upgrade your artifacts to the orange level....get your companions at purple level...and craft the best weapon set for your class.
I hope this was useful.

Have fun everyone,
Almondum.

P.S. If you find something wrong, or you have a suggection to improve this, please let me know.

One thing you can do to help your gear score a little is to get the rare (blue) shirt and pants for your class with one gear slot. The main stats are not that far off from the epic versions and you get a slot for enchantments (Pants - Defense slot) - (Shirt - Offense slot).

The cost is about 1/3 of the cost to get the epic versions. There is also a guide on leveling Leadership to 20 and another on creating AD wealth in the forums

Leave the PVP drama/epeen waving at the door or ingame. Now.

And yes I'm frankly being harsh and to the point here but there's absolutely no reason whatsoever to argue over when and what GS to PVP at, especially the way it's being done.

Big ups for trying to help, but trying to follow your advice won't be that easy. Delzoun? You'll wait in queue forever and pvp session will never start. Luskan? You'll lose. Entering GG last minute and killing a foe? You need to know where the easy-to-kill foes are located. Not trivial for a fresh lvl 60.

By refine, do you mean salvage for rough AD to refine? Could be confusing to a new level 60.

If you chose greed and someone else hit need, you will see it on the loot result window. Instead of telling you what your roll was, it will say, "You chose greed." You'll still have to look at the log to see who did it though.

As someone who just returned to the game after a long break (missing campaigns, artifacts, and the new refining system) I have to say this guide was extremely helpful (even though I got to 60 and geared to T1 before I left). Thanks!

Bonus HP from companions will affect your GS, though usually not by much. The HP that the companion is giving you directly doesn't count, but since Feats and (I think) CON bonuses to HPs are calculated last, after the companion's HP are added, it does cause some small change.

A new 'day' in the game begins at 3AM PST and a new week starts on the new 'day' on Mondays. Every daily quest will reset at that time and weekly quests reset at the start of the week. This is also when the daily refining cap resets. For me, it's 6AM so if I wake up early and do professions, I am still working at the previous day's cap for refining. Same goes for quests. I can always run Arcane Reservoir at 6AM on a Monday, even if I just did it on that character the night before.
