(My comments are specific to a GWF, but I understand the HR is also affected by this issue. Additional classes, please share your experience as well).
When my GWF wants to get somewhere in a hurry, he holds down the shift key for a moment. No lag, no rubber banding, no problem.
However, when he tries to shift-sprint away from a red patch even in a low-enemy-count area like Sharandar, the experience is almost always
- See red
- Shift-sprint out of the red
- Visually clear
- Rubber band right back into the red when the enemy power hits
- Splat
In high-enemy-count environments I currently rely on Unstoppable to let me just stand there. Since I'm not a Sentinel build, post Mod 4 I will need to sprint out of red areas as they pop up to survive. I like this change. It adds an interesting element of game play.
Except that I cannot run out of red areas reliably.
I'm not in Madagascar on a satellite ISP. I'm in California, on a 100mpbs connection... the highest tier my cable provider offers. The tier where they give you the 800 number directly to Level 2 support. If the rubber banding is happening to me, surely it must affect many others. If the rubber banding is affecting many players, it needs to be fixed for the mechanic of rapidly moving to avoid red areas is to be a source of fun gameplay rather than a source of severe frustration.
What are your experiences with shift-do something while in a sea of red?
Yep the same applies to Warlock , his sprint works seemingly fine but put a red circle on the floor and try to run out of it and even if it looks like you just got out you still get hit ,latency on the preview server isn't even as bad as the live server so god knows how it'll be on live .
one thing that ALWAYS causes rubber banding is wicked strike animation lock (a widely known issue that is most likely not fixed even after the upcoming shift fixes). You will only see it if you attack an actual target, it will not trigger while hitting air. Hitting a target and then sprinting will rubber band regardless of ping, one of the tings i begged to be fixed before the unstoppable nerf comes in.

The problem isn't actually connection, it is animation. lots of GWF abilities (most notably wicked strike) will allow you to move before you have completed the animation, but then realize you aren't done with the animation, so you get rubberbanded back. This really needs to be fixed otherwise IV destroyer GWF has pretty much no AoE ability. Also, confirmed that it is NOT fixed on test.

Rubber band is one reason why I won't play PVP.
It's with all chars not just GWF.
I'll get killed before I can react to red circle or any attack animation I see.
My net connection is good (100mb) but lag here in the old Europe is too much.

How hard is it to just remove movement from the animation?
