Are gwf prones getting nerfed?

I read somewhere that the devs are planning on changing gwf's prones into stuns. Is this true? I don't want to waste time building my gwf if it's the case.

    This is why http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?692681-Official-Feedback-Thread-Great-Weapon-Fighter-Changes&p=8294681&viewfull=1#post8294681

It sounds reasonable enough. Best help us playtest on Preview and tell how to power up the stuns wherever (IF) it is lacking.

Stun durations are being increased in the next PTS patch as a result of early testing. There was a longish post from gentlemancrush as to why they're moving from prones to stuns in PvP only - basically prones don't respect CC resistance well due to limitations with animation times (you can only get up off the deck so fast no matter how high your CC resist).

The explanation was basically that prones cannot be shorter than .66 seconds due to animations and that you cannot deflect while you are prone.

    Yeah, they are.

I just hope devs won't screw up and accidently give them some "interrupts" instead of stuns :P

God forbid they accidentally give GWF a wrecking ball.

When you're prone, attacks cannot be deflected. So they're better for the receiver, worse for the attacker.

Well, that pretty much makes CW and HR way more OP now that GWF can't counter them properly. (repel, marauders escape and their stamina with CC). Unstoppable pretty much becomes a joke with the new update.

So pretty much unstoppable got nerfed for the destroyer feat (which i dont mind since im sent), but why buff CW & HR CC and make it more effective on unstoppable while nerfing a GWF's CC? Do the devs have any clue how f... hard it is to land 1 single blow without them slithering away like little snakes. Why make a GWF's life even more like hell? In the name of balance everything ends up being unbalanced I swear I remember when these lame nerfs happened to the TR and the permastealth build became the only viable pvp option.

GWF life more like hell? In PVP? I have a GWF. I've been astoundingly OP, patch after patch. Mod 4 is the first major "nerf" to GWFs.

Perhaps he left the game before module 2 went live and back just now ? XD Can't see the other reason he would say something like that.

How can GWFs life like hell? HUH??? Go ask any average rogue/guardian fighter in /lfg and they will tell you what the real hell is.

They were looking for a way devalue the Hero of the North pack content with open World PvP. Sometimes I just don't know what they are thinking. "Hey, look we have another foot we can shoot ourselves in!"

GWF has been on the top end of both PVP and PVE, how can you say their life is hell? XDDDD that's nonsense.

If any class currently has a "hellish" existence in PvP, it's not GWFs. Maybe GFs, CWs, non-permastealth TRs and some DCs. But not GWFs, who have been one of the strongest classes for a very, very long time, making life hell for players of other classes.

For Nerfs, I saw that their signature power was going from 50% damage reduction to 10% damage reduction.

I think that massive gameplay change more than a change to prone would be of more importance.

"Unstoppable: Unstoppable now grants 5-10% damage resist when activated (down from 25-50%"

And another incredible reduction to Takedown.

"Takedown: This power now deals ~30% less damage."

    That's....wow!

"About time" is the phrase you're looking for.

I'd rather say "Justice has been served" in some cases >.>

Anyone remember GWF before mod 2? Oh, that's right, there were none, because it was the absolute weakest class. All this "About time" "They deserve it" and "Justice has been served" nonsense is complete rubbish. Yes, GWF has been rather powerful recently, but I don't think people realize how fragile a throne they sit on. Also, currently, GWF ties for 2nd in pvp with TR (HR is way ahead), and is the 2nd best pve class, with CW on top. Being happy about a class being nerfed into the ground is immature and short sighted. GWF has never been on top, why are people so mad that after 6 months of being on bottom they are finally able to compete and be useful?

Hey man, just let it go. Nerfs and buffs happen. You and I both know that they weren't always on top, but the game will always end up rotating around in the end. Just relax and continue to play your GWF. Im sure they'll still have a place in the game.

That being said, any CWs in here that are cheering that GWFs are getting nerfed, I DO NOT want to see any QQing about their PvE based nerfs either. CWs have been the primary PvE class since open beta, not to mention that they were high up on the PvP ladder up until tenacity as well.
I hear "learn to play" all the time, but it seems to me that it should be defined as "my class is balanced, except when others beat it, then THAT class is OP"...

That certainly isn't true for PvP.

There was definitely less of them prior mod 2. Even in PVP (especially in PVE). It wasnt till after Mod 2 and the paragon pathes of the GF and GWF merged did the Sentinel Almighty tank an entire team appeared.

But yah prior mod 2. GWFs tended to be the kid looking from the outside in. TRs have always been the dominant PVP force. (and Prior mod 2 the PVE single handly DPS boss down to nothing in 5 secs)

But Im not complaining my gwf has weathered the changes since the beginning. Ill adapt like usual. It really cant be any perceived worse than prior Mod 2. Even then I had little trouble PVP and PVE, but the general community perception and feeling towards GWF at that time, was that it was bad.

PS prior mod2 ROAR rocked. AP FULL 1 ROAAAR. sad its gone. but ap gain were all nerfed for all.

He's right though. GWF was absolute trash back then XD

I'm not joking when I say I witnessed people getting kicked from dungeons back then just because they were GWF's. And they would also get slapped around like ragdolls by all classes in PVP (except DC.. xD).

When they finally borrowed their powers from Guardian Fighters they became good/intimidating.

^This. Most GWFs were truly outshined by TRs in PvP and dungeons. Now, it's the other way around.
