What is the most satisfying PVE DPS class now after all the TR nerfs?
I had a lvl 56 TR before, uninstalled after the TR nerfs, now I think it may be time to come back to Neverwinter again.
I want to start a new character and be on top of the list most of the time, like my TR was.
Which is easier/harder to play and why?
Is it CW?
Is it GWF?
What is the best class for doing outrageous DPS now?
I actually answered 'another class' and the explaination takes a bit of thought. If you go by Paingiver a competant CW will always win. So whay not say CW is highest DPS? Well there is paingiver then there is effective DPS. How do these differ? Paingiver includes overdamage. Overdamage is damage that was uneccissary to kill the target. If a target has 4k and you hit it for 5k paingiver calculates that as 5k damage. If a tareget had 4k and you hiot it with 20k paingiver calculates that as 20k damage. Since the CW has many high damage AOE attacks they do lots of overdamage and naturally score high on paingiver. The problem is 20-30% (maybe more) of this damage was completely uneccissary to kill the mobs given NWO's methodology of throwing lots of mobs at the party. Realistically I think that a well-played well geared HR does more effective damage in a dungeon because due to it's many low damage attacks 90% or more of it's damage is actually effective damage and not overdamage. Not using aimed shot my HR stays at or above a GWF of like GS and maybe 10-20% below a CW so in effective (actually killing the mobs) DPS I feel it is superior.

I dont' think they're going to nerf either CW or GWF,
These two classes are the only ones in the game who can handle mass mobs. The others cannot. So nerfing them won't do a thing in PvE, none of the other classes will end up being any more wanted... and in the end it will still be a CW/GWF party, because none of the other classes will be worth taking along.
So... as usual regardless of what they do... it won't affect the game really at all... other than to hose things up even more.
SO I wouldn't get your hopes up for any kind of meaningful nerf that will affect anything in the game.
The only thing that's going to save the GF is better agro control and better shield that does not break so easily. And the only way Rogues are ever going to compete are by being restored to their former damage levels.
DCs already are very welcome because their Buffs and Debuffs are HUGE.... the DCs are unwanted was bogus in the first place.
That leaves Rangers.... and their damage was already fine, but... you can't do any damage at all when you've got mobs in your face all the time because you used Split Shot and agroed a ton of them all over you... worse, unlike the mages you can't sit and teleport in a small area around the GWFs/GF and keep all the mobs in one spot AFTER stealing agro.
So I wouldn't get your hopes up for suddenly and mysteriously being "wanted" after getting other classes nerfed...
You're still screwed.
More nerfs won't save you... I've been saying for some time... you can't nerf your way out of this one.
Even "overdamage" must be calculated the same, as it is potential damage that would be there had the mob the health to take it. All classes can just as easily do this "overdamage" equally relative to their actual damage so it would be moot to consider it.
I haven't played an HR or CW but I can tell you on my GWF the damage may not always be as much as the CW but it is easily the most unconcerned damage I have ever delivered. I am entirely carefree and reckless on the GWF and the damage comes regardless of what I do. In fact if I had a slider to increase difficulty I would push it up to at least two or three times harder. Just today while doing dailies someone sent me a tell asking to group saying they could "help me finish them quicker". I told them "I am a GWF, just what are you going to do for me? Hold my Johnson while I fight? It is a two-hander too you know."
cw has, potentially, the greatest volume of damage. gwf has the best quality.
quality> quantity
ON THE OTHER HAND, part of the gwf damage is "conditional" of cw debuff (or other debuffer / buffer), while gwf not add anything to party in relation to this ... which implies that part of the gwf damage is cw damage.
then we can say that against tougher / single enemies cw lends her strength ... which seems Japanese cartoon show (yeah, i like it).

I will agree with you that the GWF is an effortless class in PVE. That was my first impression when I built one. The reason I consider it secondary for effective damage are IBS and restoring strike which often over-damage. That is to say that is at equal GS and equal skill a GWF and HR do similar paingiver stats the HR did more effective damage. But it is close. Maybe 1/2 of a percent difference.

CW, with GWF not too distant. With a CW you have to jump around a lot and position yourself. With a GWF you just wade in and lay waste.

I agree, Chris loves the GWf and he don't care if he kills the game doing it!

they are the real KINGS inGame,
Shard of the Endless/Steal = destroys a maß of opponents with one hit.
- no matter if u give a GF more tank ability,
- no matter if u nerf gwf
- no matter if u improve healers
- & so on..
...cw will be still a better choice for parties.
The First choice to create a party is a CW!!
cws got a easy life on NW,
i don't understand why cws still complain about cuz they aren't the PvP kings also,
they should feel happy, they Dominate All PVE stuff!
