A quick question those in the know about the zax and transferring ad between chars. It's conceivable that I am doing something wrong, or simply missing something.
Here's the situation. I want to transfer (for example) 100 AD to char B from char A. I hit the exchange, buy 1 zen for 100 and promptly cancel the transaction. AD balance shows 100. Perfect, now here's the problem, 100 isn't enough. So, I want to transfer 100 from character c to the ad balance. I follow the same procedure, and lo and behold, the balance doesn't increase by 100, it remains the same. It seems the new transaction is overwriting the balance instead of adding to it.
Yes. If you already have enough AD in your wallet it will use that for the transaction. Basically, if you want to transfer AD from b and c to a, you have to do something like this:
1 - Login with b, do the exchange stuff. Now you have 100 AD in your wallet.
2 - Login with a, withdraw the AD.
3 - Login with c, copy 1st step.
4 - Login with a, withdraw the AD
etc.
Every time you deposit AD you need to take them away before you do it again, or you will use the same AD you've deposited before

You put the 'Buy Zen for X' to 50AD/1Z first, add all 'Buy Orders' needed, log over to the target character, and use THAT to cancel and withdraw the AD.
There is no need to insta-cancel, since the system won't allow someone to sell Zen at that rate, if you tried to sell Zen at 50/1 when there is a 'better' deal, it would sell at the higher rate.

Ah. Fair enough. That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.
Yes you are missing something - and don't feel bad because most people "miss" it: when posting a Sell Order (to sell AD for Zen) - no matter how much AD you have in character inventory the balance of the sell order comes from Account Balance *FIRST*. I've read the other replies which basically say the same thing, but don't explain *WHY* you need to do it this way.
So what's happening to you is this:
Character B sells 100 AD @50/1 Cancels Sell order, Account Balance = 100 AD
Character C sells 100 AD @50/1 Cencels Sell order, Account Balance = 100 AD
Here's what's really happening:
B sells 100 AD; 100 AD Removed from Character, added to Exchange.
B Cancels sell order, 100 AD Removed from Exchange, put into Account Balance.
C sells 100 AD; 100 AD Removed from Account Balance (Account Balance is now 0 ZERO; 100 AD in inventory is still in inventory)
C Cancels sell order, 100 AD Removed from Exchange, returned to Account Balance (Original character inventory is still 100 AD; no change).
Here is how I always do it:
Three characters - A, B and C - B and C want to transfer to A:
B Sell 100 AD @50/1 (100 AD removed from character inventory) - Logout
C Sell 100 AD @50/1 (100 AD removed from character inventory) - Logout
A Cancel all sell orders, then Withdraw all AD.
Done.
PROBLEM: There is a limit of up to 6 Sell orders total (a glitch sometimes allows seven)
Alternative method:
B Sell 100 AD @50/1 (100 AD removed from character inventory) - Logout
C Cancel all sell orders, account balance is updated (Now 100 AD)
C Withdrawal all AD from account balance into inventory (now totals all AD = 100 + original 100; 200 AD)
C Sell ALL AD @50/1 (200 AD removed from character inventory) - Logout
A Cancel all sell orders, then Withdraw all AD.
Done.
EDIT TO ADD: A short-cut would be for character C to sell 200 AD @50/1 - the first 100 comes from account balance, the shortage will then be taken from inventory - plopping the whole 200 into a sell order. But this depends on how much AD for Zen you're dealing with as there is a 5000 Zen trading cap (which means you have to sell at higher rate, and it slowly becomes more risky to do so).
I invite you to have a peek at my Neverwinter Economy FAQ Page at the official Neverwinter Wiki (link in my signature) for a clearer understanding on the Exchange and whatnot.

You have such well-developed responses on this forum. Always good reads!
Hahah! Thank you! I've also added the "shortcut" method to my post above. I tend to write, get my initial thoughts down, then go back and fine-tune for clarity. I also tend to be rather verbose and I hate explaining to people "This is what you should do" without expelling "and here's WHY you should do it this way".
I don't want to come-off as an elitist "greater-than-thou" type of attitude, but rather demonstrate I'm really trying to help out (even though I can be wrong. Sometimes. Rarely. Okay, almost never, ever, ever Except when I do it on purpose. Yeah, ummm... to prove a point. Or something.)
