Astral Diamond Exchange Cap

Is it just me...or should we remove this cap already? Right now I'm seeing almost 1.5 million in requested zen exchanges for astral diamonds at a rate of 500 to 1. To me this shows that there's a HUGE abundance of astral diamonds that no one needs or wants and there's nothing for them to spend them on currently in the game. If my math is correct, that's over 750 million astral diamonds just sitting in the exchange system that's not even in the game currently. Why not just abolish the cap already so regular folks can finally invest a little cash in to the game. Give the players with all the astral diamonds the zen that they want so that we can spend their diamonds on things that we'd probably never see. I have zero problem personally spending $10 - $20 on zen if I could exchange it at a rate of 5000 to 1. that would get me 2.5 million astral diamonds and I could finally buy a few rank 10 enchants or maybe an artifact or companion or 2.

Worst case scenario in my mind...? People pay absurd amounts of AD for their zen. Then in exchange raise their prices on the AH on items such as enchantments and such to off set the new costs of zen. As the AD auction price increases. So too do the fees associated with each sale (10% I think it is?). The higher the number goes, the more AD that will get sucked out of the system. Eventually causing both the auction prices and the zen prices to degrease as the availability of AD decreases.

Just my 2 cents...

Your thoughts?

5000/1? , that's the very definition of Hyperinflation ,it would in all likelihood be the death of the game as casual and free players would have no way whatsoever to purchase things , the game needs AD sinks , not insane ideas like this.

    Nope.

Look at what happened in Diablo 3 months and months ago when they tried this same strategy.

How do you create an AD sink that will absorb 750 million Astral Diamonds and wont unbalance the game? The only thing I could possibly think of would be vanity items. Decorating Guild Halls, PC Homes, or Character Cosmetics beyond what's already in place. The amount of coding needed to accomplish this would require a mod dedicated to just that...

Could you give us a synopsis of what happened in Diablo 3?

I have to believe allowing items to be bought with AD through vendor is the right approach. They tried the chicken egg which in fact worked, but was for a limited time and even if not would lose the novelty just by itself.

I propose more AD sinks like:
->Bound<- Blood Ruby and other Refining stones priced the same as a 500 to 1 ratio of Zen unbound ones
Lowered Spider mount and even more importantly Lowered mount training Books
More mounts to the AD market with bound status maybe even past and low selling mounts usually only found on the Zen
All previous fashion items with obvious mark up
    and so on...

I think if the items are bound that prevents flooding the AH and will quickly and regularly sink AD. In other words... I would like to see the Wondrous Bazaar really more fit it's own name.

The cap is there to protect players that DON'T want to spend real money on the game, and would prefer to earn things in game. I know it seems counter-intuitive, but if that cap was removed, everything was inflate dramatically, and players who don't spend large amounts of money on the game wouldn't be able to compete.

What Cryptic needs to do is include a lot more AD sinks in the game. Right now, the items you can buy with Zen are much more valuable to players than what can be purchased in game with AD. There's no one exchanging Zen for AD because of that.

I would add vanity appearance items, vanity visual enchantments, AD only mounts, and expand what guilds could buy with AD. Experience buffs, gold gain buffs, glory buffs, ect. Give players something meaningful to sink their excess AD into. Heck, even lowering the cost of companion and mount upgrades would probably encourage people to sink AD into upgrading stuff.

Lower the existing AD sinks of mount and companion training to a point where more people will choose them. Right now they're they are options only for the super rich, the impulsive and (for a few select companions) min-maxers. For an AD sink to work, it must be tempting not daunting. If you made these things affordable, the increased use would more than offset the decreased price. Additionally there would be spikes in usage every time a new green promo/event companion or mount was released. I still see a fair number of people riding Tier 1 shadow wolves, pigs and sleds. I've got a character with a boar I'd love to upgrade if the cost was reasonable - and I have access to three Tier 3 mounts on every character.

Lowered cost on transmutation would be good, though it would also help greatly if there were more and varied armor skins to choose from. There are a handful of free transmute items in the Bazaar, but the armor ones are greatly overpriced and even for the weapons, choices are very limited.

Adding 'certain' Zen store items to the WB would help greatly (if at a reasonable price) and if players are willing to buy them with cash, they'll be willing to buy the ZEN and trade it for AD. Furthermore, add all the WB items to the Auction House. So when you search for a Greater Mark of Potency, there would always be a listing for them at 100k. This would thus direct unknowing people to the the AD sink. (seriously, these things are still being listed on the AH for higher than the WB price.)

One single event absorbed more AD then that in less then 48 hours. It took nearly a week after the egg event for the market to reach this level again. So it honestly wont take much, just a little nudge, to get things back on track. but it needs to be something a bit more permanent and not a short one off event.
