How are my fellow HRs dealing with roar?

Man roar is a force to be reckoned with. Can this be dodged? I know it's an interrupt so it stops any casting, but man this seems to be the "you don't get to play for a few sec" button followed by a prone sandwich.

How are you folks handling this?

I'm not. There is no way to deal with it because it's range and interrupts your dodge (which shouldn't be possible for any ability).

Only chance is to circle around them and hope they miss it.

A fix is in the works but until then it's broken.

It is the one ability that GWF's have that bypasses all CC immunity so it can damage us even through Forest Meditation I am told. I haven't read that it's a bug so I'll take your word for it Hamletswords.

I just stay as mobile as my stamina allows but yeah it seems every Gary, Wayne and Frank are running with Roar now making it even more faceroll than ever before...LOLWF.

    A Dev acknowledged it's a bug here->http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?674281-So-is-Roar-supposed-to&p=8015091&viewfull=1#post8015091.

No indication when it will be fixed though.

Well I thought I might be timing my dodge wrong or something. I really felt like my dodge was being interrupted. Thanks for the confirmation Hamletswords.

Glad this is being fixed. 1 v 1 against a good GWF is tricky enough without this roar garbage.

Despite I must admit that roar is doing more than just interrupting (as the tooltip states), the game should not be designed to allow all combinations of 1v1 to be fair. PvP is more about combining good teamwork.
(which doesn't matter anymore if the gearscore difference between the teams is too high but we assume balanced matchups)

I got a GWF and a HR and with HR, a GWF can look awful with the following setup:
Fox Shift/Cunning, Constricting Arrow, Binding Shot and the dailies Disruptive Shot and Forest Ghost.
Sometimes the GWF won't reach you or you will be able to dodge with shifting, Fox Cunning and confuse him with Fox Shift.
With this you can do great CC and dodging.

But a GWF can unstoppable itself from binding arrows :(

They have that one really good interrupt and if you only even use constricting and disruptive shot, you've got 4. I really think we are a bit more dangerous than they are at the moment. I dunno, seems like unless the gwf is geared well above you, you should be able to handle a rotation which is about what will land on you if you get roar-dodge interrupted.

Half the time I wish I could unslot constricting arrow when I'm fighting a GWF for all the good it does me.

Boar's rush is the only thing I've really found as decent CC against them because when you prone them you can get a little extra damage in before they're back in unstoppable and you get a stamina breather.

If you use CA on a GWF they almost immediately pop Unstoppable - which basically make you able to control when they use it. I've used this to my advantage from time to time.

I'd agree. Last night I was happily tanking a GWF and a GF on our home node while whittling away their hitpoints. I comfortably lasted until my team had capped the other two nodes and arrived to help me finish them off. And I did it more than once.

Two GWFs is a different proposition if they coordinate their prones though.

Well, that's cool and all, but that means the GWF didn't slot Roar.

I have GWF that I've played a fair amount, so I can time my dodges very well in anticipation of the next FRush or takedown, IBS etc. I love it when I'm up against a GWF with no roar. I can be actively tactical and have fun. I'm not a great player I admit it. I lose to non roar specced GWFs sometimes, but with roar I don't even get to play. That's what it feels like anyway. If it's a 1v1 I still have a chance, but we're talking domination here. Those situations don't last very long.

I ran into a troll premade the other day with 3 gwfs. As far as I could tell only 2 of them specced roar, but it was one of the only times I've ever just stayed at the fire. I never campfire sit, but as soon as I would come down off the fire area I would get roared from range and it was over. It felt kinda like my internet connection lagged for 5 secs and I come back dead.

I like to prone them in thornward then aimed strike them while prone. It'll cause unstoppable but once unstoppable is done doing it again should kill them. To me its not normally the gwf that is the big problem but everyone else around him.

Oh, also if you can prone them right before they go unstoppable you have a good chance of killing them straight out.

Find a guild or some strong friends to be in your own premade and you'll eat the troll gwf comp premades alive. All gwfs/gfs/tr and no cw/hr equals a bunch of dead gwfs. ***All other things being equal.

If I'm pugging against a double gwf group running roar, i'll swap in ambush & focus on nodes. against just one, positioning will be more important than mobility.
