Noticed that even when grouped, you cannot just Transfer to your party's instance in the usual way...necessitates running all the way back to the entrance, leaving, and coming back in. Why? If you're going to make it impossible to get Black Ice Gloves except from Epic Heroic encounters, at least make it easier and faster to switch instances so we can GET TO them.
"Hey, we don't want 300 people constantly jumping instances every few seconds trying to zerg the epic Heroic Encounters. That would make it too easy to get the gloves and weapons. We'd rather they do content on the map and have it be a big deal when one pops up. So how about we make it so people can't change instances?"
"Ok, that works. But what if a guy logs on, and teams up with some guild members to do HE's?"
"well, then we'll just make sure people in parties get placed in the same instance when they enter Icewind Pass or Dwarven Valley. Problem solved!"
They probably didn't expect people to be using the zone chat as a means of mass inviting everyone to a HE. It's a workaround that they're probably trying to figure out how to stop as we speak.
My main problem is that while you can not switch instance yourself, the game feels perfectly fine to do it for you. So your game crashed because of the lag fest that the epic HEs are? Welcome back to a completely different instance without that HE active.
And despite getting a reward for every event on the map without getting anywhere close (at least it feels like), i did not get a reward for the epic HE, despite it even still running when i logged back in (my friends/party where still fighting).
Actually, the game really likes to cheat on you if you get disconnected/crash. In a dungeon during DD? No problem, event stays on. You get disconnected and join back? Event gone. You log out (or even if you only leave the zone) during GG? You miss out on both the shares and the daily quest.
The instance switching is just the thing that occurs most.
