Moonstone mask, RP and Trolls.

Hello,

Recently, I've finally managed to get into RP and experience absolutely different gaming experience. The very first time I came to the Moonstone mask, I had a problem finding somebody who'd bother with a newbie RP but then I met some very nice guys that agreed to perform some short RPs with me and gave some piece of an advice for me to improve myself RP wise. Everything was just great till I met...THEM. The trolls that are hanging around the moonstone mask and interrupt everyone with their silly /emotes and spamm and usually the RP atmosphere gets devastated because of them. I might agree that It's not really a big deal as we can just move to the Driftwood tavern or even Ebon Downs one but why the hell should we? Also, some of them are so annoying that they actually bother themselves tracking the RPers with "O" button to keep trolling them.
My suggestion is to give ingame chat moderation rights to some volunteers among the RP community that would keep the moonstone mask clean from the trolls. And by "trolls" I don't mean the people that say things in their natives and just fool around though...they are generally harmless. Those who stick to you and haunt you till you give up are.

It really breaks my RPing experience and I believe there are more RPers that are frustrated by this.

Tatty bye and thank you for your attention^^

Can't you just put them on the ignore-list?

If they follow him around throwing water balloons at him and spewing obscenities, it kinda is hard to ignore that.......which was the point of his blurb.

I think ignored players should disappear from the map for those who have them ignored. I ignore someone, then I can't see his chat, I can't see him at all or his emotes. that would fix it.
For now I just threat them like crazy drunk guys in the mask.

One workaround, albeit not a great one, is to change instances. "Tell" (PM) the other role players which instance you'll be going to then poof! No more troll.

New trolls might show up eventually, but it does work. Not perfect and certainly it would be great if there were better 'ignoring' tools available, but it's the best we can do to work with wot/we/got. :)

i never had a problem with them following me around or anything like that, just ignore them and act is they don't exist in the first place.

great advice in this thread. first and foremost, block the culprits. second, change instances. or move your RPing to a different location. there will always be trolls hanging around somewhere. if any one particular person seems to find you and messes with you, report them. take screenshots.

And again, just ignore them. Pretend they don't exist. Even talking about them on the forum is giving the attention they so desperately want. If you simply ignore them, they will go away soon. Or not "go away" entirely, but at least they will bother someone else who does give them attention.

That only works as long as the trolls don't follow them to the new location - which they will, sooner or later.

if it were me trying to get away from trolling, i'd change instances and then move to a new area. another idea would be to create (or find if they already exist) a foundry quest that is simply a location like the moonstone mask. party up with your RPers and have fun.

There was this RP streamer I've seen and was constantly trolled by a whole guild. Sometimes, people have something against you.

Play in an RP focused DnD gameworld. No trolls are allowed, other than the regular smelly under a bridge type.

neverwinter is diverse enough to allow varied game play. RPers have as much right to play as PvPers. both are allowed aspects of a mostly PvE centric MMORPG.

And yet here we are with the monthly thread on how people are trolling the RPers.

There have been lots of suggestions by RPers, including things like making every tavern single instance and removing the merchant of Waukeen from the Mask (actually the RPers realized what would happen and posted their disapproval before he was even ingame). None of these RP suggestions have been implemented.

I learned the lesson, and dont have to worry about trolls.

i'm not sure about these monthly RP troller threads you speak of, but there are plenty of tools and options to remove yourself from the presence of the unsavory.

QoL suggestions by RPers are definitely welcome... but as i stated earlier, there are ways to go about having a single instance tavern. after typing that yesterday, i went into the foundry and started building one. not sure if i'll finish it, but it most certainly is an option to consider.

Hit ignore, turn down the FX volume, and just don't IC react to their OOC antics.

Easy advice to follow, and sometimes just darned hard to follow if somebody's persistant.

You can ask/ offer to take the RP just outside the Moonstone Mask with whomever you're RPing with. It's not moving too far over.

There are RP only areas in the Foundry too (as mentioned above) you and said other person might join party and go enter for awhile.

My only real complaint here I have myself might be every darned person whom decides to get up on the bar or stage, and "dances seductively". It's gotten boring fast. Again, there are the above mentioned options to take to avoid such.

Ah Trolls, the blight of any good Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying game of whom attains the enjoyment of ruining other peoples, be it game content or Roleplaying.

I tend not to usually be as quick to ignore out of characters players as the Moonstone Mask Inn was after all intended to be a Hangout spot for Players who wished to just relax, socialise and talk to others which had later evolved into a popular public roleplaying hotspot within the Roleplaying shards of Neverwinter which had all been concentrated in that one spot, unfortunately enough, even with tolerating the Trolls to an extent, of course unless they're spamming.

My advice to you however would be for to simply ignore the offending Troll, by doing such they will get bored and go away, however if you respond to them or move at all, you'll only fuel their hunger, don't feed the Trolls and try for to use the Ignore list as a last resort for spammers.

The problem with this is that you are doing the exact thing the trolls want: You give them attention. Even by leaving the area, you are letting them "win". They show up, you leave, they feel powerful and in charge. What happens next time they troll you? Do you leave again? That's exactly what they want, and that's exactly why you shouldn't do it. There is nothing they can do to you in the game, so just ignore them. Put them on your ignore list and pretend they don't exist. Don't talk to them. Don't leave the area. Don't move out of the way. If you stick to this and refuse to acknowledge their existance, they will sooner or later get bored and leave you alone. They won't leave the game or anything, but at least they will bother someone else instead.

I'd second shifting instances or moving. If someone deliberately tracks and follows you through instance changes and moving to other locations for the purpose of disrupting your RP, then that is very much reportable as harassment.

Simple soloution? Put them on the ignore list then change instance if they follow and pester you. After reporting them of course. thanks for the tip on the inn.

Ill be sure to be careful when hanging round there. The American warcraft server moongaurd has the same problem around the lions head inn in goldshire.

Though a lot of the rp round there you have to be careful with as a lot of it is some things I cant say on a public forum. Its mainly trolls as well but a lot of the time I find that those trolls making a complete and utter fool of themselves can be funny when they dont realise there being idiots

This is slightly off topic, but are there any other designated RP areas that people hang out in besides Moonstone Mask?
