I thought it would be very helpful to mages who have not been able to see the content yet, that we all share our experiences of how things went for us on the Preview Server while doing the pre testing for the IWD.
As the release is tomorrow.
I would like to make sure all Mages are prepared for it and have a good Idea of what they're about to face and how the game changes.
Please,
..... for those who have been there, relate your experiences and what you took from the content there.
stacking hitpoints with ioun stone really helps in the new pvp zone, seal of the executioner also works good with ioun stone for the +400 regen
also black ice gear is a little more defensive then our other sets so it gives us more options for builds and HAMSTER
Lifesteal and HP are your friends. When you craft your Black Ice Gear then go back to glass cannon accessories.

I suppose we should clarify... state whether your Experiences are PvP or PvE.
As those will likely be two different things. For the record there is NO open zone PvP in this Expansion contrary to popular belief. In reality you have to purposely Flag yourself for it. So its not as claimed.
Also... the mobs are much harder than in previous expansions. The PvE content is surprisingly fun and a Serious upgrade from previous expansions. It was obviously designed for higher geared characters. a 10k GS and 3 boons is going to be hard on you. You're generally going to want at least a 12k GS and full boons.
Number one difference is that enemies hit harder. It's not like the the Dread Ring or Sharandar where you can mow down enemies with little danger to yourself. If you're not watching where you're going you can be surprised and slapped around pretty badly by frost giants or other enemies.
Heroic Encounters are no joke. Some of them, because you are a CW and can dish out a lot of damage, you can do solo. A lot of them...no chance. When I first loaded up Icewind Dale I tried to take on a Remorhaz solo just to see what I was up against. It did not go well. It destroyed me before I could even get a sliver of its health down. If it says you need a group of 2-3 you might be able to solo it. If it says you need 4-6 or more...then you definitely need a group of people. Maybe not as many as it says, but more that just yourself.
Black ice is pretty plentiful. You can get it somewhat faster in the PvP zone, but you can get plenty outside of it.
It's very easy to avoid the PvP zone if you don't want to go into it. However once you do set foot in it, you'll be flagged for PvP even if you leave the zone. The flag does not go away for quite a while so don't be surprised if someone kills you even after you leave the PvP area.
Lifesteal is your friend. You will take more damage in Mod 3. Also your damage has been pumped up in Mod 3. Lifesteal solves the former by making use of the latter.
new open world area was cool. pvp remains a unbalanced joke but this was at least a little fun. can't wait to try th new skirmish. looks cool. still not a patch on real IWD games tho... ah old times...
