What is the correct way to determine your DPS and if it's good or not?
If I'm a 15k gs GWF (PvE) with around 8.4k power, where would I want to be as far as DPS goes? I have a weapon that does 787-962 with a greater lightning enchantment. On the dummy I usually hit for 1050-1250 (including lightning damage). My crit chance is 33% and severity is 90%.
Do I need to go vorpal? I can't really raise my crit chance without sacrificing power.
get Advanced Combat Tracker and install nwo plugin. There are also threads around here regarding crit vs power and stats diminishing returns, just use search function.
- Normal Vorp increase your Critical severity by 25%, .25 * .33 = 0.0825, so you could have your DPS increased by 8.25% with Normal Vorp.
- Greater Lightning make +18% of Weapon Damage + 2 Chains with a 50% chance each one... so Greater Lightning would give you 314.32 (in Average) more Damage per attack.
- If your attacks are in average greater than 3809.94, then you should go for Vorpal, cause 8.25% of 3809.94 is 314.32.
PD:
- Note that I am comparing Normal Vorp with Greater Lightning.
- If some1 note I did anything wrong pls correct me.
So, unless your chance is greater than 40% and you have a p.vorpal (which would give you 20% more DPS (.5*.4=.2)), you're not going to beat a p.lightning (forget about the arcing damage)?
Why is it that every GWF and their brother has some kind of vorpal and I've seen like 3 people ever with lightning enchantments? What am I missing? They all can't have >40% chance...especially not if they are concerned with maxing power.
18% weapon dmg is much, much less than 18% total dmg. Also use act to determine your actual crit chance

Then if you do more than 2650 per attack you should go for P.Vorpal...
