Observation about spammers

I have been noticing something about these spammers.

I can go about a week or so and no spam in my mailbox then there will be 1. I click report spam and BAM, I am flooded with spam for the next several days.

Do these people somehow know who is reporting them and then targeting them ?

    I asked around in my guild. This never happened to me, nor my guildmates.

    I'm reporting every spammer I see, and I find spam mail in my mail box only rarely.

    I can imagine they are targeting low level areas like tutorial and blacklake, as soon as I do some new character my mailbox is flooded with spam, only being on dread ring and pe is rare to get any spam on mailbox, only the usually zone chat flood.
