Class Artifact Question.

While reading the preview on the new class artifacts, something struck me as odd.
And I mean very odd.
Completing the dangerous quest will reward you with new brand new artifacts that will be specific to each class. Furthermore, once you have completed the quest the artifacts will be available to each character on your account via the Rewards Claims agent.
Each Artifact will feature unique abilities for every class and can only be equipped by that class.

The bolded statements are heavily conflicting.
Does that mean each class specific artifact can only be equipped by that class?
Or that the artifact's powers change based on what class it's equipped to?

If the former, why would it be available from the claims agent, if only one class can use it.
Outside accidentally discarding the one you already had, this serves no functional purpose.

*edit*
Or does this mean the artifact is "Unidentified" until claimed, and then takes the shape of the class specific artifact?
The announcement was pretty conflicting, and left room for more questions than answers.
I was looking forward to class artifacts on every character purely for their stat boosts.

Any clarification from a Developer would be helpful.

As much as I hope that it's the former, who knows since changes can just come without warning as long as it's not on the Live Shard.

While I would like to take this to heart, test shard and live release are never fully in sync.
They could have decided against it, and the wording leads me to believe so.

Well, the next build put up on the preview server will likely be live build. So while, yes, it could change, it seems unlikely at this stage.

Your Control Wizard does the quest to get the Control Wizard Artifact. Now any of your other characters can go to the Reward Claims agent to grab the Control Wizard Artifact. The Control Wizard Artifact is not for the Control Wizard, but for characters of other classes and want some crowd control. After all, look at the abilities of each of the Class Artifacts and ask yourself, is there any point in giving a weaker power to a class when there are far better powers available. After all, why use the Sigil of the Trickster power on a Trickster Rogue when Deft Strike is far better for teleporting. It could be used as a teleport power for Control Wizards to get out of a boss attack provided that there are other npcs around.

Even if your worst fears are realized, the reward claims could be used to outfit a second character of the same class, so it wouldn't be totally useless.

Even though the article doesn't read this way...is it possible that only that class can use it in their ACTIVE slot? All others can use them as secondary? (as above example)

    Hi all,

We apologize for any confusion with the new artifact quest being released with Module 3. We wanted to take a moment to help clarify how this quest will work.

Once you have completed the quest with one class/character, that specific artifact will be available to every character on your account via the Rewards Claims agent (It will not be restricted to a class).

What this means is that if you complete the artifact quest with a Guardian Fighter, that specific GF artifact will be available to every character on your account so long as they are level 5. To unlock other artifacts from other classes (like the Sigil of the Hunter or Sigil of the Devoted), you will need to complete the quest with that class (HR and DC); however upon doing so, more artifacts will become available to your other characters at the Rewards Claim Agent.

Hope this clarifies the new artifact quest. If there are any further questions, please feel free to ask, we'll be here to respond to them.

    Thanks,

    Dwight

Does that mean that any class with be able to equip another class's artifact in the primary slot and be able to use that particular activated ability?

It sounds like he just said that.

Also, there is now a good motivation to always lvl up at least one character of every class.

That's how it works in preview currently. Literally the only reason they are called "class" artifacts is because you need that class to unlock it. After that, you can get 6 artifacts to choose from on any new character (if you unlocked them all). However, these artifacts cannot be used for refining other artifacts (you cannot feed them into others). So, any refinement points you put into these artifacts are permanent and you cannot get them back at all.
