Sellsword companion

I was just wondering will a level 30 Sellsword ( which would cost about 1.3-1.4 mill I think to level up)give you 300 power as an active bonus. This would be ALOT cheaper than buying a level 10 radiant enchant to achieve the same result.

Thoughts.

Per the WiKi, that appears to be the case:

EDIT: Why not buy an augment companion and put in gear that grants power, instead?

    Gah! Sorry for double-post.

You can't bring it into Domination PvP, nor will it be useful in Icewind Dale PvP.

Cheaper than a rad R10, one of the better choices in PvE.

    Your call.

What won't be useful in Icewind dale pvp?

Epic Sellsword's active companion bonus of +300 Power, which loses out to several alternatives.

Oh yeah lol , there's many better alternatives , especially for the cost to get a sellsword up to epic.

Thanks for the link and I do already have a stone with rank 9's all round just looking for extra power as power seems to be one of the key stats for Mod 3. I only PVP about 10-15% of the time so no big deal about the active bonus not working in Mod 3.

I have an epic sellsword and grants you 300 power (counts toward GS too), it is like an extra radiant which was great for the GWF since deep gash was heavily based on the power stat allowing you to get over 10k power without any bonus. Regarding to mod3, we have to consider that deep gash was fixed and 300 power only represent a boost of 1.8% dmg with the reworked power. Depends on the class you play with, there might be better choices. If you tell us which class and what companions you have in mind for your 5 slots we might be able to point out what is better for you.

I am 17 K CW ( Thaum with HV and perf Vorp), have 6200 power,1980 crit, 2000 arp,1500 defense, 1600 regen and 4200 rec. I have the Ioun stone of radiance( purple) as my summoned companion, with frost mimic( blue),bear(purple), armoured wolf(blue) and druid( blue) as active companions as I have a tankish build (29 k hp). I will probably get rid of the druid for the sellsword for the extra power or keep the hp and lose crit from wolf or defense from mimic?

AFAIK you can bring pets to the pvp zone.

There's a set of companions for PvE and there will be a new set for PvP in mod3.

A few good companions for PvE: Wild Hunter Ranger (when procs increase your damage for 10%), Fire Archon (5% more damage to enemies below 30% HP), Blink Dog (5% CA dmg), Dancing blade (5% critical severity).

You will lose GS but it doesn't matter, these pets would give you a better dps output.

I was wondering about this too. I have the Sellsword on my GWF and have her up to blue (rare). I'm debating raising her to epic. I keep going back and forth. 750K AD is alot to put into a pet, I've already invested 800K AD and 2 gold. I want to make sure its worth it.

Current companions for my GWF are:

Vicious Dire Wolf (epic) 5% interrupt
    I. Stone (rare) augment
Rust Monster (epic) 25% chance to inflict 5% damage debuff. Stacks x3
    Sellsword (rare) +190 power
    Sylph (epic) 50% Control resist
Life is full of drains, I prefer to be a fountain

IMO the vicious wolf 5% interrupt is the best active bonus in the game. I cant tell you how many times Interrupting enemy skills has saved my bacon.

The Angel in conjunction with the soulforged armour enchant is also very good.

Personally, I'd say Companions that give raw stats as Active, and nothing else, have no real reason to be part of a Lv60 'Endgame and Geared properly' Loadout. They just inflate Gearscore, take significant amounts of AD to get to purple, and are only of use outside of the 'Active' when summoned.
A better choice might be (Example build):
Blue Ioun Stone (Allure by default, or 1 time upgraded Radiance/Might), equipped with appropriate Runestones of R5 or better, plus appropriate Gear (they can use gear not belonging to the players' own class) --> Reason is obvious
Renegade Evoker (rather cheap VT drop, or at least it was. Green is fine, Blue is a good chunk better, Purple is godlike) --> Get critted, deal back damage.
Sylph/Wisp (Big Feywild pack/Itemshop) --> Control Resist is always good, especially with the, even in PvE, non existant CC Immunities to prevent Chain-CC. If you now argue about PvP: CWs have a Feat Tree that in theory should improve Controls - But doesn't, and is just an attempt to cram even more 'Do your class' job, get moar DPS' into the Feat trees.
Wererat Thief --> If you use this one as 'Summoned', you deserve to be hunted like a wild beast, until you die tired. But if you spam Encounter Skills, using an Ioun Stone as summoned, this is fine.
And as final Companion, a Companion with another Modifier, for example Lightfoot Thief, Blacksmith, Aranea, Ghaleb, Fire Archon, Vicious Dire Wolf, Rust Monster.....

Thanks mircalla83, very good argument against raising Sellsword to purple. I'm sure those AD would be better appropriated somewhere else.

Being a TOP dpser all you need is more and more dmg, you shouldn't use an allure which is just cheap but once you have maxed your character you will realize how difficult is to get more dps, radiance/might allow you to get more power. Sylph/Wisp give you ctrl resistance which you don't need but could be good only for opvp, Renegade Evoker is good only if you take a lot of damage (specially GWF) and doesn't work everywhere because most adds doesn't crit and only usable during dungeons because doing dailies and stuff like that the mobs just die too quick, wererat thief the damage is really bad.

Epic Sellsword (300 power, a very cheap radiant rank 10) is close to 2% more dmg due to the rework in the stat power, it's difficult to get another companion that gives you a flat dmg increase like this one, that's why I mentioned in my previous post that along with a fire archon, blink dog and dancing blade, these are the best upgrades that you can make to your character.

Dire wolf and OPvP > everything else. And even if you have it there are still better options like Renegade Evoker or Blacksmith.

I do agree though that if you intend to q for 5vs5 then you'd better invest your AD in rank 9 radiant instead.
