Noone knows. I'd assume no higher than 1%. It's ridiculously low. I used to farm it on 6 toons for a long time, I actually eventually got 1, but decided not to bother continuing.

He means toons, as in characters.

And for your question, it's RNG, you might even get it in one run if you're lucky as hell.

RNG = Random Number Generator. Random number generators are what is used to determine what your result is when you attempt to perform an action, such as fusing your enchantment. If you have a 60% chance the RNG will determine if you achieved that 1-60 percentage to succeed or the 61-100 percentage that you failed. It is the secret dice roll behind the Dungeon Master's screen.

I think it was about 4 months for me, and that was with buying hundred's of priceless thayan relics for extra keys.

It was about a month of using the adamantine gauntlet before I got one. From what I've gathered that's pretty lucky. Most people it takes several months if not more. I'd have to guess it's in the 1-2% drop range.

There are confirmed reports of 500+ consecutive chests without the artifact. My own streak ended at 412. Statisticians can surely rule out a range of percentages with this information. My gut feeling says 0.5% because Cryptic has settled with this rate on quite a few lockboxes lately.

Everyday doing the dungeons and opening the blue box with adamantine gauntlets. Peridots for months and then, 2 days ago, it dropped the artifact. But didn't invest ADs to open it more times.

I just don't focus on dropping the masterpiece, but try to enjoy even the peridots since they are RPs after all. Just enjoy playing the game and be happy when luck strikes on you.

I don't really see why people are running the dungeons "just for the artifact".
They award a purp mark worth 3k RP, often a purple bit of HAMSTER salvage gear, they have a lot of profession nodes, and are incredibly easy and quick. There is very little reason not to run them, since they're one of the few solo endgame bits of content that're still worth doing. The fact that you might one day get an artifact TOO is just icing on the cake.

    Until then, there's always peridots.

This is a good point. You're basically guaranteed at least 4k AD worth of stuff and up to 10k just by running the Dread Ring dungeon of the day. Which is not too shabby for the 10 minutes it takes to get to the dungeon and clear it.

I think most folks find it boring as hell. Especially when you've done Sharangrind and Dreadfull Ring on 6 different characters. When you have over 500K unrefined AD on each of your characters, there is just no reason to do these other than for a "chance" at getting the artifact.

I said it before and I'll say it again. They need to use a safety net in their RNG code. Each time you fail to get the artifact, increase the chance. Once you have gotten it, safety net off.

I think I saw a post somewhere that mentioned an idea of taking all the excess thayan scrolls (the ones that you only get 1 a day of) and make it so that the artifact can actually be bought at something like 100 scrolls, which would be bop of course (preferably bta). It kinda sucks that basically they are saying that you'd have to play for 100 days straight to get such an item or be very lucky and get it sometime before then but at least you would have a reason to keep trying if it means that eventually you will get in a certain known time frame.

I also think it would be nice that the game would check your inventory and everyday you don't get it you get a small increased chance of getting an item until you do get it and once you get it you can't get another one.

No luck here too. Been trying to get it since I got Purple gauntlet. (I started Dread Ring the second it came out and been playing every single day without missing one.)

Meh, once IceWind dale comes I'll just give up on it and get the class Artifact and the 40K Glory ones.

Statisticians need reliable data from multiple sources (preferably 25 so we can assume normal distribution) in order to estimate the probability.

Some people getting it in less than a month, while others take years implies a very high variance though.

believe it or not, I have 3 eye with the same character.

could be bound to account ...

anyway, I had been a long time without running the dungeon. then when I decided to run, came first. and the other two come at intervals of 2 weeks. Now I run all day does not come back any more.

I'd rather NOT have them mess with RNG, chances are they will break it.

But in this case the solution is simple: after you've completed the campaign, you will start accumulating a lot of scrips, scrolls by running the lairs. Just let us buy the artifact from the campaign window as a crafting process when you have a number of scrips/scrolls (450 scrips and 150 scrolls or something like that).

It took me between 150 - 180 Star metal gauntlets to get it and that was after doing the daily lairs from the earliest possible day , I even leveled up Adamantine gauntlet before I took my boons , awful drop rate but I pesonally love the effect , being able to rez dead players from a distance is good it can and has saved parties I've been in from being wiped on a few occasions now .

I've gotten four on my CW and zero on my GWF. It's a pretty poor Artifact, in my opinion. I just used the four to level my Waters. No Star Metal Gauntlets used.
