Would have been nice if there had actually been an interview, but it is just a "preview".

Looks good. Going to be lots of fun :)

You should recruit a team to bug them for a release date akromatik :P Don't let up until they announce it. Relentlessness is the key. No mercy.

So basically you will be forced to PvP in Icewind Dale? Good for PvPers I guess... Hopefully there will be a new class and/or race to make up for it.

To echo a previous post, not much of an interview. The article certainly makes it seem as though it will be PvP heavy and reward the PvP player to a greater extent than the PvE player, contrary to what has been put out so far.

no. you will not be forced to pvp. do you not need to accept the pvp specific quests and as long as you stay out of the specified areas, you will not get flagged for pvp.

there are more non-pvp heroic events going on as well as more non-pvp daily quests in the different maps. pvp rewards are pvp specific boons and gear bonuses. pve black ice gear will help you in icewind dale and more than likely beyond module 3. here's a quote from one of the recent blog articles:
To enter Kessell’s Retreat, players must ensure they have an adequate amount of Black Ice Resistance, meaning that they’ll need to acquire several pieces of Corrupted or Purified Black Ice equipment.

But you will also not gain access to a few areas, not access to some cool items, and you have to mine longer to gain certain items.
But you will not at all be forced into PvP.

if the area you're referring to is the pvp battlefield, then yeah. that area that's marked off for pvp. if you go in there, you'll get flagged for pvp and after that, anywhere you go in the zone is pvp. yes there is black ice in the pvp battlefield but there is black ice all over the zone.

So you are saying it is not any faster for pvp players?

i'm saying there is no disadvantage to pve'ers by staying out of pvp zones.

I have to say that sounds really good. Especially this new big area they are creating, I think this MMO is starting to grow on me.

The pvp area is entirely avoidable and not necessary to progress. You're not really punished for avoiding it. The fact that you can only get 1 free tool for the new profession might limit you more. No new class if anyone expects one. Just a new path for HR. I guess they could also surprise us with a new race, but who knows.

I just flipped through the article,
but the PvP-area sounds exactly like the one of RaiderZ.
Even the Yeti monster thing looks "exactly" like Diago in RaiderZ :o

I really look forward for that!
