Ever since the Thursday patch (on thursday night) the game has lagged, server timed out, etc. Today it is almost to the point of not being able to even play it is so bad.
Now before you say it is my ISP I am not having ANY issues browsing the web OR playing 2 other MMO's I play. Only problem i am having is with neverwinter.
208.95.184.0, btw, is apparently the target for the tracert. At least, that's the best I could find from the website that now gets redirected, based on google shenanigans. Because honestly, who needs an faq for an mmo?
I've been having this too, I can run ESO on high settings without a drop of lag. Neverwinter? It's like trying to swim through concrete. They're currently servicing my internet, though, because my first thought was "maybe it's me". After asking around on champions online, which also runs flawlessly, I gather this is a pretty widespread (but intermittent) problem.
Gotta love bugs that only hit like 5% of the population at random, right?
In game, I am @EvilTaco. Happily killing purple gang members since May 2008.
There's a sticky at the top of this sub-forum for assistance in diagnosing lag and rubberbanding. Until you've run those tests, please do not blindly blame the company for your issue. Also, make sure your on-demand patching is turned off.
Saying so-and-so game runs fine and NW doesn't so it must be NW is faulty logic as different games take different routes to their respective servers. Saying you can browse the web just fine doesn't help much either as most web traffic utilizes port 80 (standard HTTP port) for web traffic, whereas NW utilizes several ports...hence the reason that a nettest is provided in the above-mentioned sticky.

Just an FYI for those with lag. I solved mine with a HDD change. I am running 4 SSD's in Raid and one of them was giving an issue. No other games were an issue except NW. More demand on the HDD exposing the issue more maybe? Probably close.
I replaced my raid set and still had slow loads and no lag after first 2mins of login. I switched over to IDE SATA and now I have no lag with NW. Not saying your HDD is an issue, but any weakness in RAM, MOBO bus, etc can be exposed by one game and not another.
lewstelamon01, the problem with Cogento even prevents us from downloading the nettest. Apparently there is/was some kind of stand-off between COgentco and Verizon. This has caused extreme lag to many people from all over, not just Neverwinter. Search Cogentco+Lag+2014 and you'll see it.
<edit> I just tried to d/l the nettest for a second time. This time it completed but was corrupted.

Yeah Verizon has been an issue since early on and it seems very intermittent.
It's frustrating as all heck as somebody who switched to Verizon recently...but...meh...The cable company didn't deserve double the rate Verizon gets. If you are a Verizon customer about the only thing you can do is call and complain...a lot. But with their CEO's recent obnoxious statement regarding people who stream movies and play video games I am doubtful they care about the woes of people who actually use the internet.

HHD replacement?? no need mine is a new hdd and a new install of windows, the lag started with the event that you got the green slime as a companion, i have uninstalled the game and re-installed 2 times, re-installed graphic drivers and direct x, as for using the a different server or game, that eliminates the home system as being the issue and the internet provider. that would be a simple test. the issues is with their software or sever or both, sincse i am also seeing the lag when i have their software is running as well

Tron,
Think of the internet like you are going to drive from your house to Cryptic's Server Location.
If you look outside your front door and see no traffic that doesn't mean there isn't traffic anywhere on the route to Cryptic's Servers.
The only traffic Cryptic can control is their parking lot and their road. They can pay for a big road to make sure the traffic doesn't back up when people try to pull into thewir parking lot but they can not control the size or traffic of the roads between their road and yours.
You do not have a direct link anywhere on the forums. If you are point A then Cryptic is likely point M (not point .
Saying "it's not on my end so it must be yours" in terms of the internet is a complete fallacy.
Which is where "Traceroutes" come in. It figures out where the issue is caused. For Verizon customers there is a really overloaded hub that causes issues that Cryptic has absolutely no control over.
Feel free to follow the directions in this thread but since this thread's first post was an uneducated accusation and was now revived with an equally inaccurate accusation instead of following the information supplied by former responses this thread is now closed.
