I use negation, but it's starting to feel worthless to me. I'll admit I picked Negation because it perfectly goes well with my Armor's dye. But is Negation this terrible?
Soulforged has one of the worst appearances though, I use a Silver/Bright armor color and the Soulforge would just ruin it.
Is there any other enchant that even comes close to soulforged ? While not making our characters look like a cloud of smoke. I'm still exploring and looking to try any other enchants.
Hope they introduce visual disabling on mod 3.

soulforged is a great enchantment because anyone can benefit from it even at the lesser level. almost every other enchantment, not so much. you have to bring these up to at least a greater or perfect for it to be of any use.
as for negation specifically, i've read that negation is a good GF enchantment, but i have no experience with it personally.
Thunderhead looks pretty sparky if you want cosmetics (maybe not as useful as SF but it doesn't have to be greater or perfect to work fine -- matter of preference though). Or if you really WANT cosmetics, Elven...which is kinda useless to be fully honest. I have a love-hate relationship with Soulforged. Reason being? You already said it.
Some enchantments are a mixed bag -- I use normal Soulforgred in dungeons, but Perfect Briartwine otherwise. The briartwine looks odd on a svelte elf, but it makes doing dailies a lot easier. Perfect Terror has nice properties, but I hate how it turns my weapon totally black. Sometimes we have to take the good with the bad, I guess.

I call soulforged the "double or nothing" enhancement, because in PvP it often is not a matter of how much extra life you can get. Once the other team manages to kill you will they very often kill you a second time quickly thereafter. You give them double points with soulforged and the chance to actually get away after your first death is low. I do not use it, but it makes me smile when I get to kill somebody twice.

dunno, many times that i procced someone's soulforge in pvp didn't give me the kill for the 1st time

I don't know if it counts it as two kills, could be it doesn't, but it does give you points for each, either for an assist with 25pts or a kill with 50pts including bonuses like Tower Rush (50+50pts) or Tower Defender (50+100pts).
I have found thunderhead and frostburn to be very useful as well as looking great. I use a greater negation on my GF and it has been very useful as well.

If it procs soul, I dont think your giving a double kill, they will have to kill you again, to get the one kill..
I thought thats how I always see it anyways, when Im looking at the charts.
I find Soul useful still, because it forces them to pay attention to you to finish you off, which can generate more time for teammates to cap someplace or kill someone else.. as long as you found teammates that understand that you actually have to cap things lol.. None of them seem overally useful in PVP anymore, weapon enchants on the other hand, are a must have. Pre Patch, everyone had soul pretty much, because you popped up, hit raven , pot and back to near full right away. You cant do that anymore..
What's it matter if they kill you twice, it's an extra life whereas any other enchant is a mediocre effect with a long cooldown and no consistency. The only ones that are consistent otherwise (Briartwine, Elven Battle) are either bad or bugged, respectively.
When will my negation proc? Before the huge burst that will kill me or will it proc after for the at wills?
At least with soulforge when you die you KNOW it's going to do what you want.
EDIT : Forgot about Barkshield. It's a pretty good one in certain situations, pretty much gives you extra HP pool.
I think the answer to your question is your playstyle and how YOU envision your character. The default answer to "what is optimum" is p.soulforged.
Here is where pvp and pve are starting to diverge. For how I play my ranger, elven is the perfect pvp enchant. What kills me most in pvp is not being able to shift, this enchantment mostly solves that problem. In pve it is said to not work. It does look pretty cool imo. On the other hand, in pvp soulforged can be nice but it is gimped by healing depression, which means you don't get as much health back as you would if it were a pve environment. I still have it on my gwf for pvp because with unstoppable, ferocious reaction, a g.terror enchant and solid regen, all the gwf needs is that fraction of health to get right back up to half way or near full again.
To summarize, elven is better (for my hr) in pvp because it dovetails with tenacity (which increases cc resist). Soulforged not as good (for my hr) for pvp due to healing nerfs.
Again, it really depends on how you play your character and in also picking an enchant that works correctly when you need it to.

If you use shocking execution on someone you get the kill. So they'll soulforge and it'll count as a death for them and a kill for you, then you kill them again.

because execution is a forced respawn if it kills u and if u don't use soulforge, u don't get the chance to be revived. it's either straight to campfire or waiting on respawn.
since our daily "downs" people it kills, it counts as a kill even if u use soulforge. not sure if there are other attacks that also downs.
