So, with the arrival of tenacity, the meta game changed, maybe not for all, but for some. CW that is my main class for example... I had to change some skills that I use in pvp because of tenacity, and some feats became useless. I bet it happened for some other classes too.
And from what I read about, the goal of these last changes in pvp was to "change" the meta game in pvp... I'm not saying that I don't like it, but it would be fair to give players a free respec since they had to adapt new builds and strategies for the current meta.
If you read this and agree or disagree, please leave your feedback.

No one will leave the game over it and they make lots of money from the respecs.... sooooo... ya..
i think the politic is to get free respec on new Modules, at least that happened with module 1 (Sharandar) and 2 (Dead Ring).
The tenacity was a patch, hugh one for the pvpers, but not a new module.
I guess you have to wait to module 3 to free respec.

I never said that people would leave the game... but in the past they gave free respecs when some changes happened, maybe they thought that this last changes wouldn't affect builds so much, but in the end it affected.
in the history of the game and free respecs, they've only been given when major class balance changes are implemented. this may occur with module 3, although i don't see it happening any time before that.
Check the dev forums on the changes coming with module 3. They were just posted about an hour ago. I can see at least 2 classes getting a free respec, but that is it.
Tenacity did not break what was currently in the game. This coming from an HR who the NERF bat is swinging very hard in module 3. But hey you roll with changes to online evolving games. It is the nature of the beast.
Been playing MMORPH since CLOSED EQ BETA. Yes a long long time. Evolution happens.

To expand on what Melody said, Tenacity alone is not enough to warrant any free respecs.
However there are fairly large changes coming for both fighters and some alterations to Hunter Rangers which will hit the Preview Server soon if they have not already. Free respecs were decided to not be given for Tenacity but Module 3 May merit it. We will have to wait and see.

I thought that every module made such major changes to classes that a free respec is warranted? I understand this is more due to custom than any official rule, but is there any reason you are suggesting that this might not happen for Module 3.

Well planned changes for 2 classes are already listed in the preview general discussion and it warrants a free respec for both of those classes at least.

I assume that Community Moderators are not the ones to make that call, and probably haven't been told what will happen, so when asked questions like this, they have to answer in a non-committal fashion. I presume that HRs, at least, and possibly GWF/GFs will get respecs, since they're the classes with changes.

One of the devs said that CW's will be looked at shortly too, so I'm guessing they will do a sweep of everyone by the time module 3 is released.

my suggestion is 1 free respec at hitting 60, I only say this because, 1 respec is never enough and it would help to shut people up if you allowed 1 respect when people finished leveling.

While we have gotten a Free Respec with both modules and at launch that may not always be true and is really a trend but not a rule. Before both previous modules it was assumed we would get a free respects but it was only confirmed long after those changes reached the Preview Shard.
The developers make the decision with PWE and actually discuss the decision. If you dig hard enough there was a thread very similar to this one created long after the upcoming module went to the Preview Shard in which Panderus mentioned such a meeting.
However that decision for Module 3 will not be made by the developers for quite a while. While past history shows there is a good chance for free respecs do understand the policy is only to give them out when the developers feel changes merit that decision and not just because a new module was released.
According to the patch notes for the preview shard the GWF feat tree is being rearranged, which will make some current builds invalid. The last time they did that (when module 2 came out) they did a forced reset of all feats (so you had to re-allocate in a now-valid way). I'd expect they pretty much have to do the same this time, but that's only one class and not the same as a full respec.
HR is getting a new Paragon Path. Again, the last time that happened they gave free respecs so you could try the new path, but at that time all classes got a new path. So this time I would say it's likely HRs might get a free respec but don't count on any other classes getting one.

Yeah people do leave the game, i personally did because while i leveled i didn't pay much attention to what i was putting my points into, the tooltips are so ambiguous i was just curious so when i dinged 60 i had a bad spec. Back then respec was really expensive and out of my reach, i felt like i was stuck and i left
Restarted it recently when some of my friends "discovered this new MMO" and since i already had a level 60 i decided to give it another try but since they implemented 2 modules in the meanwhile they gave me the respec i needed and i continued playing.
This is just me but i know of other people who did the same, didn't like how their class turned out, couldn't afford respec so they quit

Totally agree with this, leveling spec doesn't match end game spec and plus people want to try things out first to see what's what.
It also helps if they improve tooltips and make good descriptions of your powers.

Thanks for the detailed explanation ambisinisterr. It was pretty much what I suspected, but it is nice to have it laid out explicitly.
