I don't want to make a very long thread on something we all have thought of such as PvP mechanics. I'll just drop this idea and let you guys think about it by yourselves.
What if instead of aiming to make a single matchmaking system pleasing to everyone we, the players, were given options?
I know there are mixed opinions among players about taking GS into account in the current matchmaking process. But what if we take that factor into account in another system? More straight to the point: what if, for example, there was an additional PvP queue with a maximum GS cap? (similar to the minimum GS required to get into epic dungeons). I know some of you guys are gonna go "but then some people would lower their GS before queueing up on purpose and then equip everything when they're inside". There are many possible ways to deal with that. Off the top of my head, not letting players equip anything when they're inside, automatically kick players whose GS go above the limit, or anything similar should do.
I believe both high GS and low GS players would benefit from this. In fact a very low maximum GS cap could be a playground where your build and gameplay style and skill matter the most. Even well geared players could find the option of fighting there interesting.
I know this is a pretty rough idea but I share it just in case anyone thinks it is worth polishing.

As I said before, it is an incomplete idea.
As for the queue times getting longer I think it would require a bit of statistical analysis to determine how hard they would get hit because I'm pretty sure options such as these would draw players who currently dont like pvp into it. Not to mention that queue times should be directly proportional to the amount of people needed to start the match. So in the case of 3v3 or 4v4 they should most of the times take less than in 5v5.
Anyway, those are still just theories.
