A possible way to take PvP improvements even further.

I don't want to make a very long thread on something we all have thought of such as PvP mechanics. I'll just drop this idea and let you guys think about it by yourselves.

What if instead of aiming to make a single matchmaking system pleasing to everyone we, the players, were given options?

I know there are mixed opinions among players about taking GS into account in the current matchmaking process. But what if we take that factor into account in another system? More straight to the point: what if, for example, there was an additional PvP queue with a maximum GS cap? (similar to the minimum GS required to get into epic dungeons). I know some of you guys are gonna go "but then some people would lower their GS before queueing up on purpose and then equip everything when they're inside". There are many possible ways to deal with that. Off the top of my head, not letting players equip anything when they're inside, automatically kick players whose GS go above the limit, or anything similar should do.

I believe both high GS and low GS players would benefit from this. In fact a very low maximum GS cap could be a playground where your build and gameplay style and skill matter the most. Even well geared players could find the option of fighting there interesting.

I know this is a pretty rough idea but I share it just in case anyone thinks it is worth polishing. :)

    I like such ideas along with other ideas (for example: disable all enchants in pvp or let everyone equip the same PvP gear for his class) but I am realistic and therefore I doubt we will see such drastic changes. In the end they will always emphazise that you purchase gear and enchants to be able to compete with everyone.
    Suggestions to improve NW:
    - Dualspec
    - Better rewarding foundry and foundry pvp maps
    - Custom PvP leagues with leaderboards instead of the current 'matchmaking'.
    - Armory
    - make jumping cost stamina (to reduce hopping in pvp)

    I agree with you adernath. In fact I had that in mind when I decided to post this but I posted it anyway because it is widely known that almost everything can be made profitable if you just come up with the right ideas in the right moments ^^

    As I said before, it is an incomplete idea.

    the problem with a lot of options would be queue times. maybe a few options would be nice. i'd like the option to not queue for a ladder match. and there should also be the option for a custom match would would need to be non-ladder in my opinion. this way you could set up 3vs3, 4vs4 or 5vs5 premade matches. many more options past that and the queue times would be abysmal.

    I would definitely like to see those options as well.

    As for the queue times getting longer I think it would require a bit of statistical analysis to determine how hard they would get hit because I'm pretty sure options such as these would draw players who currently dont like pvp into it. Not to mention that queue times should be directly proportional to the amount of people needed to start the match. So in the case of 3v3 or 4v4 they should most of the times take less than in 5v5.

    Anyway, those are still just theories.

    Also, add in 1v1 mode/duels, apparently people have been asking for that for ages

    Solid ideas. I would also love to see a premade vs premade option so we don't have to do gimmicks to make it work.

    well on lowlev pvp they level you up so why cant they equlize the gear score to? i think well becoures then what reason do you have to do pvp if all you spent money and time is wasted. but! i love to see an option for a player could enter such an arana where pea-pol would be equal gear score beside of the standard arana. like take 10 players randomly togeter they have lets say 50k gs some of thess pll got 8k gs other got 10 and again a few got 16k but the team are being set up so both team got same amount of overall gear score 50/50 % 60/50 %

    Aye queue times makes it bad, this game isnt exactly crawling with people anymore. In a perfect world (HAH!) there would be premade and solo queue queues separately as well as elo matchmaking.

    i feel as if the pvp was being re-tinkered by cryptic in a way to make communities in the world rethink of joining behaves this would bring more players. there are some pvp oriented communities out ther
