How does Bilethorn work/stack?

I see that bilethorn weapon enchantments apply x% or weapon damage and then x% additional damage after 4 seconds. How does this work with stacking? Or does it not even stack? If I apply 3 stacks within 1 second, do all 3 stacks hit after the 4 seconds? or does the 3 stacks take 12 seconds to apply to full damage?

I am looking into this enchantment for PvP use. Most matches are not to long, so I was wondering how exactly the 4 second ticks work. Any help is greatly appreciated. I was using a terror enchantment, but hate the look so wanted to consider the bilethorn as an alternative.

Bilethorn is definitely usable for TR, but not too many other classes, just FYI. Duelist's Flurry is about the only ability that applies it reasonably effectively.

In your example, all 3 stacks will hit 4 after application. Similarly, if you hit an enemy once per second for 4s, then each tick will hit 4s after being applied, once per second for 4s.

    Major benefits of Bilethorn:
    Wrecks stealthed TRs
Applies Healing Depression for a LONG time
Deals competitive damage with Vorpal when used with rapid-hitting attacks like Duelist's Flurry (highest base damage of any weapon enchantment, iirc). Also not affected by critical damage reduction in PvP.

    Downsides:
    Reduced burst relative to vorpal.
Damage takes 4s to fully apply, target may be already dead.

I'd also consider a Plaguefire enchantment, the armor shred is brutal in PvP, even if it doesn't take as much advantage of rapid attacks. If you're any class other than TR, I'd strongly recommend it, unless you also hate that blue-flamey look.

I am a combat ranger and figured it most of my powers (split shot, hindering strike, fox cunning) etc that it would be a great enchantment. I am in melee 60% of the time and ranged 40% of them based on the situation. I figured the tick would be good for kiting GWF and helping keep down DC classes on top of helping aid stealth TRs.

I really did not care for my hunters bow being on fire with the terror or Plague enchantment. Since I run with a Loamweave enchantment (looks pretty cool for a ranger IMHO) I figured the look of the Bilethorn would be an excellent combo. But first and foremost is if it would be effective for a hit hit dodge dodge hit hit play style melee ranger.

First off, a Bilethorn TR had better be on a good team, otherwise they'll rarely get another TR distracted enough to land DF. Secondly, the best TR's will have Tenacious Concealment up will be using Barkshield instead of Soulforge. Bilethorn, NEGATED. :)

Can we focus on if Bilethorn is any good for combat rangers :) ? If not, then...what class is it good for? Or is it just a crappy enchantment that no one uses?

Bilethorn seems to largely be used by TRs, or be people wanting to counter Perma TRs. With the new PvP mechanics it might be more widely applicable but I'm too AD poor to test. :)

FWIW I went Lesser PF with both my Combat HR and CW. Also has the advantage of being cheaper than Bilethorn. Not sure what I'll use on my TR yet.

I tried perfect bile on my combat hr and wasn't very impressed. My greater vorp works much better.

That is a shame for me, this was the only tolerable enchantment visual for me lol. Do not care for the blue fire of Terror and Plaguefire unfortunately for me. If only you could turn off the enchantment visuals :(

Guess I will have to use a look I do not like, lol.
