So occassionally I notice small things that I've otherwise have taken for granted. Today I noticed that the image on Portable alters for gateway, and I'm pretty sure in game as well (I'm at work so I can't verify), are all covered with the Symbol of Kelemvor.
So, first off, is there any special reason why this would be? I wondered that, and then I started digging through some of the other greater deities in game and came out with these two:
Selûne:
Torm:
Anyone seen those? Or are they probably just left overs? (Also not sure if Moonstone is the right place to inquire with this, but oh well =P)
edit:Personally, it'd be kind of cool but probably impractical if the altar (yeah, I misspelled the title, whoops
') would have the symbol of our god plastered on it, like the prayer symbol does now.

What I think would be really cool, is if the appearance of the actual altar that appeared when you activate these was unique to the deity of the one who activated it. < - Credit to you for that idea, never would have occurred to me if not for your post.
I think you may have a good idea that might be worth presenting.\
(Although I don't know how you can present it since 'no one gets to meet The Duke.' lol)

You never know, the NWAH watchers were able to convince one of the Producers, Lindsey Haven (I think it was?) to see what she could do about getting a mimic companion in game. Granted, she worked specifically with events and mounts and stuff.
Buuuuut. You never know.
I think it would be cool if our choice in gods make a bigger impact in game and it seems like Cryptic is finally getting there by making unique invocation icons and capes with our gods' insignia on it.
But IMO I would really like to see a wider array of gods first. Honestly there is only one god on that list which any of my characters actually follow. I simply chose the best fits and say they worship such and such god even though the character sheet says otherwise.
Did she? I totally missed that, thanks for the details. Kinda squashes my optimism a tiny bit but ehhhh, no big =P.
And yeah, the selection is limited and I can partially understand why based on my own background of having next to zero knowledge about anything D&D mechanics and lore wise. But I've been picking up on bits and pieces as I've gone along and have slowly been able to build up a half way decent backstory for one or two of my characters.
Being able to expand into other deities would be great. Even to curb that possible overwhelming feeling, the "core 12" by having a button off to the side labeled "additional deities" or something to that effect could be a good solution if the fear of overwhelming is an issue.
Still trying to work together my RNG created character. Halfling Kelemvorite Hunger-Ranger (I forget where he hails from, but it was something equally "wat o.o" if I'm not mistaken).
Gods and background both. There's little point to them beyond RP. At the very least, I was hoping that Foundry missions could use either for dialog/action choices like classes can (race choices would have been nice too).

One of my original suggestions was changing default dyes or spell effects based on God's even if it was only for select ones.
For instance I really would love the option to have my cleric actually hold his God's Symbol.
Imagine if just one power you received was changed based on your god. Or maybe something a bit more subtle like the recommendation in this thread.
And for the love of...
MMO or not we really should get a ton more class and god specific quests. Cryptic should make Foundry Contests to get people to create quests for a specific God or Race and have the winners become Official Content polished by the developers to save on manpower. I personally don't care what 'greedy' shortcuts are taken as long as the game is better for it.
Sounds like something that would have been a nice weapon skin to have been handed out from Challenge of the Gods.
Otherwise per your other points, especially including the foundry, that key feature of the game really does seem to need some good TLC and updates. I'm not part of the community for it, but the promise of "unlimited content" from the Foundry is still true, but you can only do so much for so long with a non-expanding amount of resources. I really hope Aandre's renewed "Hot Topic" thread to probe the community helps keep the spotlight on that issue.
And i did double check in-game last night and the Kelemvor image is definitely the one used in game for my characters. Granted I dont have any that worship Torm or Selune...
