The dread warrior's lv 30 unlock 'warrior's thirst' power actully reduces damage instead of increasing it according to the tool tips and from what I've noticed in game.

    You are correct, Necro.

I have an Epic Level 30 Dread Warriror. The level 30 skill - Warriors Thirst says when the Dread Warrior does "Siphon Strike [it] fills the recipient with a thirst for combat and increases damage dealt by 10% for the duration of the heal." However, this is not happening. Actually, the opposite is happening - I lose 10% of my damage on every skill during the heal of Siphon's Strike. For example, Sudden Storm's damage range is normally 5018 - 5797. Now when the Dread Warrior does his Siphon's Strike, Sudden Storm's damage goes down to 4500 - 5100 roughly per the tool tip. I also tested to see if the actual monster received damage is affected and not just the tool tip info. And the monster received damage from my skills is in fact lowered. This is VERY counter productive. I would recommend no one upgrading the Dread Warrior to Epic until this is fixed. I have reported it in game.

Eck! I was actually planning on upgrading this companion for my guardian fighter but I suppose I will wait until this issue is fixed.

    Thanks for the heads up.

    Hey there!

We have been testing the Dread Warrior companion internally on the build that is currently live, and are not seeing the issues being reported in this thread.
That is not to say that there isn't anything wrong with the companion, but maybe someone can chime in with more data.

Here is what we're seeing (a test run by one of our designers):
"I used magic missile and measured my DPS to be 163ish over 120s.
Added a rank 30 dread warrior, continued to attack only with magic missile.
Viewing the DPS of magic missile for the next 120s and got 180 dps."

    Hello nisdiddums,

I want to first thank you for taking the time to work on this issue and work directly with your customers. (It's greatly appreciated!)

I just tested my lvl 30 Dread Warrior and the problem still exists. I took the liberty of making a short video of the problem and loading it to you tube. But let me describe it first - when an Epic/lvl 30 Dread Warrior uses his Siphon's Strike power, it decreases all the powers of his owner by about 10 percent. It's ONLY during the use of Siphon's Strike is this decrease seen.

In the video (link at the bottom of this post), I use Sudden Storm in my testing. (I used SS because it hits really hard and it's a bit easier to see a drop in its damage output. But this issue affects all encounter and at-will skills to my knowledge. And it might affect daily skills too.) The first 15 secs of the video is me illustrating the damage range of my Sudden Storm skill (5018 - 5797) before combat via the tool tip. My Dread Warrior is summoned and we're just eye-balling some victim mobs, then we engage them. Notice that at the 23 second mark my Dread Warrior punches a mob, doing his Siphon Strike. (You'll see the Siphon Strike icon appear under my picture on the top left of the screen.) At that moment, I mouse over Sudden Storm, and it shows a reduced damage range of 4400 - 5083. At the 27 second mark, Siphon Strike has worn off and Sudden Storm's damage range goes back up to 5018 - 5797. The orc mobs do not wish to make this easy on my Dread Warrior and proceed to "give him the business." So after being knocked down, at 41 seconds, he again does Siphon's Strike. My Sudden Storm's damage range goes down, but not as much this time - 4779 - 5521.

The next segment, which starts around 47 seconds, has me alone facing a few mobs. (My Dread Warrior has been dismissed.) Notice the damage that's done to the mobs by Sudden Storm at full/regular power - 5276 and 5327. At the 1:02 mark of the video, I have my Dread Warrior back out and he's about to use Siphon's Strike. When he does, I do Sudden Storm and it does 4523 and 4674 damage to the mobs. This damage decrease to the mobs is in direct correlation with the tool tip damage range decrease, which is caused by my Dread Warrior using Siphon's Strike.

Conclusion: when an Epic Dread Warrior uses his Siphon Strike, his owner suffers a reduction in damage output. This is not what the lvl 30 Warrior's Thirst power is supposed to do. It's supposed to give the owner an "increase" in damage of 10% per the Warrior's Thirst tool tip. It's doing the opposite.

I would love to see this fixed and be able to use my Dread Warrior again, but as a damage dealer, I can't use him like this.

Dear nisdiddums and Cryptic programming staff,

I'm happy to report that the Epic Lvl 30 Dread Warrior's skill - Warrior's Thirst/Siphon's Strike is indeed fixed this patch as per your 3/6/14 release notes. I quickly tested it and my Sudden Storm's damage tool tip and damage to the mobs goes "UP" 10% now when my Dread Warrior does his Siphon's Strike skill. (I didn't test all my skills, but I presume it's working for all since it's working for Sudden Storm. If I find any issues, I'll let you know.)

Thank you immensely for fixing this and working with your customers! I can use my Dread Warrior again! WOOT! :)

    Have a great day!
