Weapon length VS Damage range

Bit of a silly question but...

I noticed, after transmuting my GWF MH a number of times, that the length/size of the the weapons can vary quite a bit.
I currently have a quite short item transmuted and i feel like my damage range has been reduced.

Could this be happening? Does each weapon have a specific damage range (sure strike, wicked strike etc)?
Or is it just a kind of placebo effect?

    To the best of my knowledge it doesn't matter if you're using a Spork or a Tree Trunk... If the Melee range says 13 Feet, then it's 13 Feet! :)

    Where does it list the weapon's/character's melee range please?

    In your Powers window of the Character screen, hover your mouse over the At-Will, Encounter Power, or Daily and you'll see it. :)
