Unable to load into Foundry Quests

I'm not sure what the problem is, but I've tried multiple foundry quests across all 3 of my characters and its always the same result. Every time I attempt to do a Foundry Quest, the game freezes up. At first, I thought it was because I was in a party with my daughter. Even had her attempt to "pull" me into the map with her as party leader. That was a no go. Tried doing it as solo and got the same result. It will bring up the loading screen and then lock up and I have to force close the game.

I can load the normal maps with no problem. Click, zoom and I'm in, so it isn't a lag issue. I have a L60 GWF, a L54 Cleric and a L48 HR and none of them can access any foundry map. Any ideas as to what is causing this or how to fix it? I ran some foundry quests over the weekend and didn't have any problem.

If you haven't already, try "unchecking" On-Demand Patching in the Launcher Options. Then also "check" Force verify.

This should re-download and clean up any bad data files you might have gotten.

Well, just tried your suggestion, eldarth. Unfortunately, it didn't work.

I don't understand why I had no trouble with the foundry over the weekend, but now it refuses to let me load into them. I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem either. *sighs* None of my settings were changed between then and now.

Do you get a server not responding error? Or just a flat lock up?

If it's a server not responding error, you could try to reset your modem and router and go into a command prompt and flush your dns just to be safe that it's nothing on your side of the connection.

If it's a flat crash, I'd run a disk check for bad sectors and a defragment if you don't defrag regularly. If these don't fix it I'd try a reinstall at that point as a last ditch effort.

It's just a straight out freeze on the loading screen, not exactly what I'd call a 'crash'. It just stops responding. I've only been playing on this computer for about two weeks now, though I keep all my computers defragged and up to date on everything.

I submitted an in-game ticket, so hopefully tech support will be able to tell me something. For now, I guess I'll just do the normal quests and whatnot. Thanks for the help :)

I had something similar a long time ago. (Open beta I think.) I am curious, does the foundry editor work. If I remember correctly (Which I may not be) I wasn't able to access the foundry editor either. I can't remember how I fixed it, I may have just ended up taking a break (At the time, the campaigns were not out yet and I couldn't find I good way to get into dungeons, so I didn't have anything I could really do while waiting to fix it back then.) Did you try running as admin? That might help as well. I wish I remembered for sure what I did to get it fixed, and I don't even know if it is the same thing. Either way, I hope you get it resolved.

Does it "freeze" indefinitely? If so...how long did you actually wait before rebooting/killing app?
You might try letting it "load" and freeze -- and then just watch it periodically for half-an-hour.
I've had a couple of reaaaaaaaaaalllly long load times loading maps and textures and stuff.

Thanks, eldarth. Not sure how long it took, but it finally loaded a foundry map. I'm not a very patient person, so I've always just force closed it after a few minutes. Guess I'll be running the foundries by myself since my kids are able to load into them faster for now.

Shot in the dark: Have you checked your "swap space" allocation? I've found it's often better to force it to explicitly be about 2.5x physical RAM memory and NOT allow Windows to "manage" it.

If you are allowing Windows to defrag stuff - you might search the web for anything that will defrag swap space as well.

...and finally, if you're free disk space is less than about 9%, I believe defrag will not have enough space to be effective.
