Hit 60 Yesterday, I have some opinions on the GF and its glaring problems.

I am new to the game but I have an opinion on the class based at 60 and with 3 other classes in the 30s.




1. The animations are way to long, I mean in PvP trying to get a daily off its almost broadcast to the entire opposing team as I lift my leg and arms slowly locked in place waiting for it to finally activate? ~ Ridiculous! Also in PVE waiting for Fighters Recovery to activate I usually get prone or interrupted its so long.


2. Not being able to use Dailies or encounters while in the Guarded Stance? Why is it I have to put down my only defense mechanism to use another ability?

3. Guard breaks far to easy!

4. DPS is very low as cleave means you are losing Hp, GF need an AOE dot where it be a bleed or some magical spell!

5. Leveling up all my Companions ( SOLO ) just trying different tactics I leveled my Man At Arms thinking maybe with the extra mobs spread out he can grab some adds and give me a free moment to be more offensive. Using Enforced Threat and Enhanced Mark Man at Arms was constantly grabbing aggro off me, now I know its foolish to use a Tank companion however I found it odd how easily he seemed to grab aggro off me as I had to mark the targets over and over, it seems our Threat generation is really really low?



I went Conqueror path for the double Power while having a full guard and my DPS is better but still lacking, I've only been 60 for a day my gear is very low 11,883 and 6,000 Power with the Conqueror buff at this time however my lvl 30 TR / HR do more dps them my 60 GF!

    and you think toning down other classes will magically help you in these problems?

    dps of gf is low because of knights chalange who make your damage 2 times stronger on target and on conq 2.1 times this skill is main reson for low damage output of gf and he lack aoe damage control encounters or his main buffs like knighst valor should get some more utily like when ppl efcted with they do 10% more damage i agree shiled is almost usless they break it in few secs in pvp and pve and i also noticed dose not work so well against cw and hr i keep geting cc from them even with shield up think they need to make shiled to weaken ppl when hit on it like 10% more damage on them or cant use encounters for 3 this would make it a lot better and not op

    if u plan to play pve with it recomand u kc set+tactician i use on my eanforced threat+kinghts valor+into the fray and have some 2k recovery and solid def and hp so can tank for some time recovery helps me to have only 3 sec time with no into the fray buff

    No! Calling for some toning down ( Nerf ) I hate to ask for but , YES! I think it will help as the GWF is to superior to the GF! UNless the GF is brought in line to GWF...

    No! Calling for some toning down ( Nerf ) I hate to ask for but , YES! I think it will help as the GWF is to superior to the GF! UNless the GF is brought in line to GWF...

    they can toon it down or even remove from game noone will be crazy to take gf when can take another cw and make a lot faster and wont have any need for dc or tank as long as they do not remove mega buff and debuff from cw stacking from more then 1 ,dps and tanking

    or hr, tr, dc. Basically absolutely any class is a better choice than gf.

    yeah but if i have 2x tr or hr i wont hit 4x times stronger and will still need tank and dc but if i take 2xcw everything is fixed for example on my gwf if got 2xgood cw i hit 47k+crtics while if none 14-15k

    A player generates threat by dealing damage. GFs get extra threat as a class and have access to powers and feats that increase this. Tank companions seem to have an actual taunt that forces the enemy to attack them - no need for them to do damage. So a PC tank can't actually compete with an AI one.

    That is a major issue as in PUGS I am the tank yet all the Casters / Ranged have their Man at Arms out and I run in grab the boss and the surrounding adds and 15 seconds later I have 3 man at arms sub tanking all around me off taunting each other and myself, GF should generate more threat then a bot! Super annoying....

    Yah the Man At Arms has a 'hard taunt' that agro locks the enemy. You can not compete with it full stop.

    They annoy me because my build 'works' by having the enemies attack me - so I need agro to keep agro, and with agro I can compete with the (second) best of them for damage all while holding threat and not really needing healing. But when the man at arms are out, and the CWs and GWFs are the very best and can obliterate the baddies as fast as they appear - I do nothing. So basically people already know how to get through dungeons without needing a GF, and they do it.

    GFs have a single target bleed, Knee Breaker.

    It may not be comparable to an OP Deep Gash, but it is effective. I tested it on a dummy. I only hit the dummy with Knee Breaker, crit the hit and bled it for 11k over time. Didn't time it but I guesstimate that the dummy bled for ~5 seconds.

    EDIT: Why did you take the Aurora artifact? If you are looking for DPS you should have taken the Lantern for the crit and arpen.
    PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.

    Yes I used it a lot in my mid 40s early 50s, but its just not as useful as bull rush and frontline, lunging strike we need a way to dot adds so while in the Guard we are creating threat.
