Wrong formula is wrong

I am posting here because on this crowd could understand my pain. I play a new game. I wiki some stuff. I theory craft. I spend my free respec. I discover... someone on wiki sucks at math.

This is not true from http://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/Power
The formula for damage and healing is Weapon Damage * (1 + (Power / 2500))

This is closer to true for at-wills.
The formula for damage is (WeaponRatio)*Weapon Damage + (BonusRatio)*(Power/25)+Skill Base

And note this is more than a disagreement about percentage versus decimal. The first formula claims power scales base weapon damage which so far from true it isn't funny. You can pull on and off armor and check at will values to confirm that it is not.

I am not actually sure what is true because my formula works well for at-wills, but it it doesn't work for encounters at all (edit: after I wrote that sentence I fixed it up so that it worked alright. See below)

There is some clues by just look at numbers though. For example, my weapon has a gap from high to low damage of 641-525 = 116. So you speculate this gap accounts for the gap in the skill tooltip linearly. For frontline surge: 2432-2104 = 328. The question then becomes does 328 stay constant with power or change with power. I go down to 2882 power and the gap is still 328, so you figure the weapon ratio is probably 328/116 for frontline surge which is 2.827. For my at-will's the gap stays constant with power too, so this provides an excellent starting point to find the weapon ratio.

Now with that penciled in you will also note that there is an amount that goes up and down with power that happens without a weapon equipped. This lets you speculate about the the bonus damage ratio from power and the flat additional constant. For example at 1254 power (tooltip +50.2) Frontline surge shows 383 damage with no weapon. At 466 (tooltip +18.6) power it shows 309 damage. At 250 power (tooltip +10) it shows 289.

So 10X + C = 289
50.2X + C = 383
40.2X = 383-289
X = 2.33

C = 265.7

Check on the middle one value. Should be 18.6*2.33 + 265.7 = 309.

So yes, we appear to have some linearity there.

Thus, we claim the tooltip for my frontline surge will be: 2.827*WeaponDamage + 2.33*Power/25 + 265.7

For me this would be a low of 2.827*525+ 2.33*3886/25+265.7 = 2112
And a high of 2.827*641+2.33*3886/25+265.7 = 2439.98

My actual tooltip is:
2104-2432

I am over by 8. I am going to guestimate either there is a really small non-linearity or I messed up the constant. Either way I am still in serious doubt about the wiki answer.

In the end, I didn't start this thread to figure this out. I actually just started checking some numbers in the browser when I went to post that the posted formula on a popular wiki is wrong.

    Wiki is wrong. But overall this game's wiki is a lot more accurate than wikipedia.org.
