extreme yet simple method for PWE to kill off gold spammers

Why doesn't PWE temporarily shut ALL chat options except for party , guild and tell for a few weeks .
This would stop all forms of mass communication for the spammers .
After all if they can't spam the zones with their chat then the spammers should eventually go away as why would they log in to a game if they can't get their message across .

I'm pretty sure they won't join dungeon parties or pvp just to spam the few names that they would get this way and to make a tell individually to single people one after another wouldn't be an effective communication marketing plan .
Also if they joined a guild to spam within a guild I doubt they would be a member for very long as the guilds would expel them very quickly .

It would likely make the forum usage a lot worse though with everyone else's comments and questions about the game and also Likely spam which could increase the forum moderators workload but this way forum bans could be handed out a lot quicker by the moderators .

And then you turn it back on, and they return. Meanwhile, they stick strictly to sending messages via the mailbox instead. Not as effective, but they do it to get by until the regular channels return. Not only that, but what if you're wrong and they do start entering dungeon queues to spam group chat? That borks the entire queue system for anyone not running a premade party! What a disaster that would be. Not to mention that completely destroys the LFG and Legit channels which are some of the main ways to form parties.

With the queue system being partially broken still , the first dungeon they could enter would be the clock tower - after that it is unlikely that they will level their accounts high enough to want to enter higher level dungeons , but this is my opinion only .
The point for the spamming is that they want mass coverage with multiple accounts as quickly as possible .
To join a dungeon with 1 account , spam a dungeon queue quit and then join another dungeon wouldn't be particularly time effective on their part .
The mailbox would still be an issue , but again for them to spam multiple mailboxes 1 at a time would take them a LOT of time and you would STILL get LESS mailbox spam than zone spam .
I agree that the dungeon queueing would HAVE to get fixed by cryptic ( due to other issues also with the queueing system ) .
For the Legit channel , the easy option would be to turn it into a guild and then use GUILD chat for communication . I am sure that there are plenty of people using the Legit channel ALSO pvp so forming a pvp premade group wouldn't be an issue .
The LFG channel is only required due to the current queueing system NOT functioning 100% correctly - if that was fixed as most people have cried out for then it would nearly eliminate the need for this channel .

The "solution" would be to park a live GM in PE - make sure they're competent, and give them the ability to insta-ban people if and when needed. You'd have to implement a warning system for people who just say inappropriate things, (but not things that should get them banned as well).

    LOL

Yes it would get rid of the spammers, by getting rid of the population. Look how fast defiance flopped. Want to know why it flopped? There was no zone, trade, lfg, etc. If cryptic wants to shut down neverwinter immediately your idea is great.

Even this would be a fruitless measure because banning bots is pointless. The bots use random proxies to connect and register new accounts automatically, no amount of banning (even rangebanning) would help.

Bots still plague every game like this because the only way to stop the bots would stop players from connecting as well.

Exactly, honestly if I start a new mmo and don't see bots I don't stick around for more than a week as it's probably a dead game.

....OP, you ARE aware you can shut off all those options for yourself only, thus negating any perceived problem with gold spammers, right?
    I'm unhappy and I can't say why.

everybody has great ideas that could potentially hinder gold spammers in-game, but the fact is, PWE is already on it and just about everything that can be done is being done. as more and more proactive measures are implemented, the gold spammers will always change their tactics.

personally, i battle against gold spammers by reporting them when i see them, do not spend too much time in PE, dim zone chat so it's not prominent in my chat window and i have the knowledge that i've seen what's been implemented and i've seen gold spammers change their tactics so i know as gold spammers come up with their next bypass move, PWE is working up theirs.

with that said, we're going to shut down this thread as there really isn't anything productive that can come of it.
