Is there a command to grab username ( $("Username")) orr something that can be used in conjunction with /say?
It follows therefore, that this young man will be as unfeeling, as unthinking as the dead, until the day he joins them.

If I have my char focused (target icon on) on a char and use an emote, it uses their name. Could I do the same thing with /say and use [nickname] or something like that?

I dunno bout that. I just right-click the name I see in chat (or right-click the character avatar (in STO) or aim at avatar and press F and choose "Tell" or "PM" (or whatever private message label is).I only mention this for those unaware you can do this.

the only way that i know to do that is to use ; and then your text by spelling out the character's name. using a random character string doesn't sound like something that would be provided for various reasons.

    so you would type:

    ; thinks Drizzt is awesome!

or, as you stated, with the focus on a character you can personalize emotes.

Hmm ok, I was thinking more along the lines of it being part of /say. So 'Hello [nickname] how are you?' for example. Where [nickname] would be replaced with the persons username that you are focused on.

As far as I know $target works. I have a keybind that says /say $target is getting the pain stick! for use in PvP when im using a daily.
It will spit out the name of the mob or player im trageting at the time. I also made a keybind for taunt_brodown that does the same thing but with no overhead text, the emote fires with a text string in the chatbox that says Ara makes agressive gestures at (toon/mob).

play around there is some fun stuff you can do :)

    Ara Atheanes GWF
    Traxus Atheanes GF
    Bastiel Atheanes DC
    Ellara Atheanes CW
    Keira Atheanes TR
    Sarasin Atheanes SW
    Jerkface McGee HR

Ahh that is what I was needing!
I wil give it a shot this evening thanks!

now if there was only a way to have a $gender work as well, everything would be perfect for my plan.

    What plan you ask?

Why my plan to try take over the world of course.
